Lead Mixed Signal ASIC Engineer - Early Stage Startup

IntroductionAyo is a venture-backed early-stage startup that will radically re-define how humanity performs compute for AI. Our photonic processors will provide orders of magnitude improvement in speed and power efficiency in comparison to conventional digital compute platforms by taking advantage of the natural parallelism, speed and energy efficiency of light.We are seeking a lead mixed signal electronic ASIC engineer to serve as a core team member who will be among the first employees of the company. You will build and lead the electronic ASIC team at Ayo, leveraging your prior experience and tapeout successes to stand-up a world-class mixed-signal ASIC design and test capability at Ayo. You will work collaboratively with other functions to co-design and co-package your electronic ASICs with Ayo’s integrated photonic chips, to bring-up and test your electronic integrated circuits, and to realize successful demonstrations and product prototypes. You will set the cadence for the tapeout cycle and will be responsible for schematic capture, layout, and verification of your circuits. The ideal candidate has strong fundamentals in analog and mixed signal design of application specific integrated circuits and has taped out numerously at major foundries such as Global Foundries, TSMC, etc. Responsibilities:Hire a world-class team of ASIC engineers to support your development responsibilitiesDefine the architecture and specifications for mixed-signal ASICs that control and interface with Ayo’s photonic integrated circuitsPerform schematic capture, layout, and verification for mixed-signal integrated circuits with elements including digital-to-analog converters, analog-to-digital converters, transimpedance amplifiers, and transconductance amplifiersDefine and oversee packaging and test requirements and flows for your integrated circuitsEnsure successful bring-up and test of your integrated circuitsProvide expertise and support to other Ayo team membersBe interested, curious, and willing to take on the entire scope of ASIC developmentQualifications:PhD in electrical engineering5+ years experience designing, simulating, and testing analog & mixed signal integrated circuitsHas taped out at a major commercial foundry a minimum of three timesProficiency with standard EDA tools such as Cadence or Synopsys Preferred Qualifications:Experience collaborating with integrated photonics teamsExperience with advanced packaging such as 2.5D / 3D integrationContact:Peter Russo (peter@ayosemi.com)
