Film/TV Legal Delivery Document Reviewer (Remote / Part Time)
The JobPart time film/TV/music legal delivery document review analyst. Independent contractor. The CompanyEstablished boutique business affairs consulting company with large and small film/TV company clients. We are NOT a law firm. Your Job DutiesReview a high volume of documents and contracts for liability issues involving film/TV projects (chain of title, production contracts, music licenses and Errors and Omissions insurance). Film/TV legal delivery experience is MANDATORY.Email/phone correspondence between producers, sales agents, distributorsOrganize information and digital documents in Dropbox, SharePoint, Google Drive, Asana and other data management softwareDetail-oriented admin: Constant updating of grids, reports, checklists, form contracts, and document templatesCheck-in at least 3 times a day for urgent issuesAbility to follow procedures and checklists with dozens of steps with no errorsTrack and hit deadlinesExplain legal concepts and documents to filmmakers and creativesJob Requirements· Film/TV/music legal experience- Must have one least one of the following:o 1 year full time in-house legal delivery experienceo 3 years part time legal delivery experience or conducted legal delivery review on at least 20 projectso 5 years of film/TV/music work experience as paralegal or attorney in a law firm or the legal/business affairs department of an established entertainment company· Strongly prefer at least 3-4 years of legal delivery experience. Ideally you should have handled due diligence or legal delivery on at least 50 films/series. This is not a starter position.· Must have either a JD, paralegal certification, member of a US state bar association, or a license to practice law. Open to non-US based applicants but must have the qualifications in your jurisdiction.· Must be available to work at least 5-10 hours a week during US work hours 9am-6pm PST.· Available every week day. You may not work every day but you must be available every day. Same day client response may be required. You MUST be able to check in at least three times a day and be available to respond immediately.· Strong experience in chain of title, film/TV production documents, and music license review. E&O review experience a major plus.· Must have a working knowledge of the film/television production, sales and distribution industry· Mandatory: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs), Dropbox, SharePoint, Box, Adobe. Asana a plus.· For applicants based in CA (or jurisdictions with similar independent contractor laws) you must have a loan out company as an LLC or Corporation or form before engagement. No exceptions. Ideal Candidate Will Bring:· Film/TV/music contract analysis skills- the ability to read contract language quickly determine liability risks, best/worst case scenarios and what language would be needed to reduce liability risk· Must be able to conduct high-level legal delivery document review immediately with zero errors and little to no training· Film/TV/music contract drafting experience- You will not be drafting but the experience will be greatly beneficial to document review and problem solving.· Demonstrated knowledge of film/TV/music business· Qualities: Client-first mentality, Problem-solving, Detail-driven, Accountability, Pride in high quality work that reflects on your personal and company reputation, Ability to work independently, Responsibility, Strong analytical, organization, and critical thinking skills· Must absolutely be able to follow detailed directions· Ability to learn fast and take detailed notes to reference· Patience when dealing with people who are pushy or resist your requests· Discretion when safeguarding confidential information and files· Passion for a long term career in film/TV legal business affairs· Plus: Familiarity with guild and union regulations (SAG-AFTRA, DGA and WGA)· Stellar reputation. It will not work.· You are seeking a high-end attorney position, in-house job or law firm job· You are pursuing a career other than in film/TV legal and business affairs· You do not have a JD, or paralegal certificate or any film/TV document review experience· You get impatient with people· You’re not seeking fast-paced, high volume, sometimes urgent, work· You are expecting advanced career attorney level payCompensation Dependent Upon Experience starting at $30/hr. and up· In the 2nd round of interviews you will take a timed written test to assess your film/TV/music legal delivery knowledge· In the final round of interviews you will be given an assignment and do live document analysis with the interviewer and verbally explain your path of analysis and thought process. You will not be able to fake work experience.
