The Park School is a Pre-K to Grade 8 independent school in Brookline, MA, dedicated to excellence in education. This on-call, 10-month position comes with the responsibility of working with faculty and staff to support the school's mission and curricular goals.Availability when needed, on campus during school hours (7:45 am - 3:45 pm) to fulfill any predetermined or as-needed coverage requirementsAvailability to respond to last-minute requests for coverageCollaborate with Divisional Administrative Assistants to fully understand, plan, and implement lesson plans while the teacher is absentFlexible to adapt to different classrooms and student needsEffective and respectful class management skills, an understanding of the social/emotional development of children, team-oriented, and exhibits an exceptional work ethicAdditional opportunities to participate in other areas, such as athletic coaching or working within our After School ProgramsEstablish and implement expectations for student safety, conduct, procedures, and routines consistent with Park School policies.Assess student performance and engagement, including academics, behavior, and social-emotional needs, while communicating directly with students, colleagues, and families both formally and informally when necessaryMeaningfully integrate and supervise technologies into class lessons for student learning and growthComplete administrative tasks and coverage duties as assigned (student supervision, attendance, reporting, documenting curriculum, event/activity coverage, including lunch/recess duties , etc.)Utilize feedback and reflection to improve practice and performanceEnsure that respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion, social-emotional learning, and academic excellence are emphasized as core values of The Park School.Meet expectations as defined by the Park School Employee Essential ExpectationsBachelor's Degree requiredExperience teaching Early ChildhoodDemonstrated experience working in a culturally diverse communityStrong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skillsExperience in writing student comments, communications to parents, and other school-related documentsCreative problem-solving skills and a positive attitude that allows one to cooperate and collaborate effectively with othersMotivation for and interest in professional developmentHigh integrity, professionalism, and confidentialityThe ability to effectively interpret, navigate, mediate, and resolve conflict in a timely manner.Proficient or the ability to learn Google tools and other applications as adopted by the school, such as Veracross, Atlas etc.Physical Requirements:The ability to sit and stand uninterrupted for 30-minute periods of time.The ability to regularly walk on and travel across variable surfaces (e.g. level flooring, stairs, turf, gravel, asphalt, etc.).The ability to lead, supervise, and accompany students to all areas of the school campus (including all indoor and outdoor areas), including during day-to-day responsibilities and in case of emergency.The ability to regularly stand, sit, crouch, and kneel down in order to support students.The ability to work outdoors, year-round, in variable weather conditions.The ability to lift and hold 15 lbs overhead.The ability to occasionally transport (e.g., move or drag) 25 lbs.The ability to maintain focus and composure in an energetic and, at times, loud environment.Please visit Park's to complete an application and upload your resume, cover letter, leadership/philosophy statement, and the names of three to five references, including two present or past supervisors.The compensation for this role is $25 per hour. Actual salaries will vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to degrees received, years of teaching experience, and other considerations permitted by law.
