Surgical Technologist

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provides an aseptic, safe, fully equipped surgical environment. Adheres to the principle of aseptic technique. Assists in cleaning room and gathering equipment needed for procedure. Selects instruments/supplies needed for procedure prior to procedure. Assists with opening the case. Performs surgical scrub according to procedure Directly assists the surgical team during the surgical procedures. Passes instruments and supplies in a safe and functional manner. Handles specimens properly. Incorporates Clinic Guiding Principles, Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities. Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies. Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic . Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients. Demonstrates an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment. Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards. Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities. Successfully completes Mandatory Education. Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Requires successful completion of an approved surgical technologist program or surgical technologist training in the military services. Licensure, Certification, Registration: None Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards. Experience: Up to one year of experience in a hospital required.
