Operator 1, Weight Checker
Weight CheckerLocation: Romeoville, ILDepartment: ProductionReporting to: Production SupervisorPosition Purpose: To perform the assigned job as indicated by his/her supervisor in accordance to the Safety, QA and USDA rules.Key Accountabilities: To prepare and operate machines in process, to take weights during pizza assembly product according to the Company and USDA requirements. And, to follow the specifications of each BOM.Responsibilities:Responsible for the production of a quality product that meets all customer and regulatory requirements.Provides training to all new Weight Checker and New Spot Checker.Effectively communicates as required with supervisor.Responsible for verifying the spotcheckers to ensure they are checking the quality of the pizza correctly.Assures that the necessary tools, scales, proper documents and supplies are ready prior to production for all lines.Check all weight checkers have their BOM to make sure that the pizza has the correct ingredients.Responsible for verifying the weight checkers to ensure they are checking the weights of the pizza correctly.Assists supervisor in maintaining the work areas in a clean and safe manner.Makes machine adjustments, informs the lead, and the Supervisor when major adjustments are required.Cover Weigh Control on any line when Weight Control is not available.Documents major and minor adjustments on ingredient weight forms to assist in evaluation of equipment capabilities.Work directly with Leads/Supervisors and inform them about the ingredients usage consumption.Share the results of the usage to the weight checkers to identify the bigger offender of material usage.Performing the required weight checks in an efficient manner that meets the requirements of the process including time frequency.Staying focused on the duties of the job in an environment that otherwise provides many opportunities for distraction.Other duties as may be assigned or volunteered for.Food Safety / Quality:Adhere to all GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), such as good hand washing practices and adhering to the employee hygiene plan.Follow all USDA guidelinesReport any issues regarding food safety or quality to supervision and/or quality assuranceComply with customer requirements when applicableSkills, Experience & Qualifications:Good communications skills, hard working, dependable, safety consciousRead, write English and know basic math.Minimum 6 months of production experience.Able to operate mechanical and electrical machines.High School Diploma/Equivalent preferred.Able to convert weight from ounces (OZ) to grams (G).Able to make logical decisions.Work bending and squatting.Lift up to 50 lbs.Work standing or walking for long periods of time.Work making fast and repetitive hand motions.Work in cold refrigerated and frozen conditions.Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level:Required:Good communications skills, hardworking, dependable, safety consciousHigh School; or Equivalent.2-5 years of training or supervisory experience in food production.Knowledgeable of USDA and OSHA regulations.To be able to communicate, coach, and train line production workers to optimize production. Must have the ability to make critical decisions, coach and expedite solutions when situations arise.Preferred:Bilingual, English/Spanish preferredPhysical Requirements:Lift up to 50 lbs.Work standing or walking for long periods of time.Work bending and squatting.Work making fast and repetitive hand motions.Work in cold refrigerated and frozen conditions.And able to push/pull heavy loads using hand jack.Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme cold.The noise level in the work environment is often moderate to loud.Ability to work different shifts and weekends.Food Safety/Quality:Report any issues regarding food safety or quality to supervision and/or quality assurance.Report any risks or any evidence of unsafe or out-of-specification product, equipment, packaging or raw materials to a designated manager to enable the resolution of issues requiring immediate attention.
