Flight Sciences Instructor and Curriculum Developer (USAF Test Pilot School)

QuantixMind, Inc. is preparing a quote to the United States Air Force Test Center for curriculum development and analysis support to the USAF Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB. We are seeking the flight sciences subject matter expert who would perform the work. This position is contingent on contract award. This is the school that trains the military's test pilots and flight test engineers. Every graduate completes 50 credit hours of instruction and roughly 100 flight test sorties before receiving a Master of Science in Flight Test Engineering. You would develop and teach the flight sciences portion of that curriculum. WHAT YOU WOULD DO Develop and present classroom instruction supporting the flight sciences phase of the TPS curriculum, covering Performance Fundamentals, Performance Systems, Performance Characterization, Flight Mechanics, Flight Control Systems, Handling Qualities, and Envelope Expansion. Deliver mission information briefs, ground test technique briefs, and lab test technique briefs preparing students for flight and simulator events. Work with the flight sciences branch to develop and revise curriculum, with the option to sit as a non voting member of the Curriculum Planning Committee. Advise and facilitate student and staff Test Management Projects, real flight test programs students execute end to end, from test plan through safety review, execution, and reporting. Support fundamental research conducted by the Flight Sciences Branch. REQUIRED Minimum 25 years of professional flight test experience in military aircraft. Earned master's degree, or equivalent, in Aerospace Engineering or a related field from an accredited United States university. Experience developing flight envelope expansion instruction, and experience providing envelope expansion flight instruction. Experience developing variable stability instruction and instructing in variable stability aircraft. Experience with AI controller integration into manned air platforms. Demonstrated ability to work with students to plan, execute, analyze and report flight test research and development programs. Extensive experience teaching flight test academics in a formal classroom, having reached the full academic or faculty rank of professor, or equivalent, or higher. Active SECRET security clearance. This is a hard requirement and the clearance must be in place at the time our quote is submitted, not at start of work. United States citizenship. STRONGLY PREFERRED Graduate of USAF Test Pilot School, US Naval Test Pilot School, or an allied equivalent. Prior service as a TPS instructor. Current or recent faculty appointment. SCHEDULE AND STRUCTURE Normal TPS hours are 0730 to 1630 local, five days per week excluding federal holidays. The contractor adjusts the weekly schedule to average three workdays per week, so this is a part time commitment that leaves room for other consulting or faculty work. Classroom instruction takes place on site at USAF TPS. All other services may be performed remotely. Engagement is as an independent contractor on Form 1099-NEC at 100,000 dollars per year, which works out to roughly 80 dollars per hour on the three day schedule.
