As a Linux Engineer, a typical day will include the following duties:Job DescriptionThe Infrastructure Linux Team Engineer will be responsible for the implementation, support and maintenance of all aspects of the project’s Linux infrastructure. Project infrastructure includes virtual and physical servers and software resources.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experienceMinimum eight (8) years of related Systems and Linux Engineering experienceRequired Knowledge/SkillsInstall, configure, secure and maintain all physical and virtual onsite and cloud servers/vms/instances using kickstart, puppet, ansible, infrastructure-as-codeMonitor health and capacity of and troubleshoot Linux system resources using Nagios and iLO or iDRAC and VMware host consoleAssist multiple development teams with recurring operations and maintenance activities (host creation, system performance issues, H/W issues, general Linux administration support, Centrify/AD support, etc.)Coordinating and escorting vendors into the Data Center to replace failed hardware components on Linux systemsProject based development and implementation of new Linux hardware and software capabilities (Security enhancements, Central Logging, Resource Monitoring and Notification, Dev/Ops Automation, etc.)Participating in and conducting applicable accreditation support (scans, automation, auditing, etc.) of Linux systemsProviding general Linux system administration guidance and support to multiple development teams (disk management, account creation, design reviews, etc.)Create, manage, and update Linux servers in the cloud environment The Successful Candidate Must Be Able To Work Well Both In a Team Setting And Individually On Project-based Tasks And Have Direct Experience In The FollowingSystem AdministrationPrior experience as a Unix/Linux Systems Administrator of Linux, preferably RHEL/CentOS (installation, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting)Prior experience developing Puppet modules for server builds (Kickstart), and maintenance automation.Prior experience integrating automation with TFTP, DHCP and DNS.Prior experience with Centrify and Active Directory integration and management of Linux groups, accounts and serversPrior experience with one or more scripting tools: Puppet, Shell, Perl/CGI, PythonPrior experience working with Linux in a cloud environmentVMWare/VSphereManaging and monitoring Linux server resources in a VMWare/VSphere environmentBuilding and maintaining all Linux Virtual MachinesServer/Resource AutomationExperience with automation tools, such as Puppet and Ansible, CGI/Perl and PythonHardware ExperienceDirect experience with, including hardware maintenance, firmware updates to HP DL Series Servers, Dell PowerEdge R630/730 Servers and iLOM/iDRAC usageDesired SkillsPrior experience with SQL querying of a relational database, such as MySQLPrior experience with Nutanix and HPCC technologiesPrior experience with Python and Ansible automation of system administration and configuration tasksPrior experience setting up Docker clusters using Swarm and or KubernetesPrior experience with HP Apollo 4000 and 2000 systems architecturesPrior experience with git for Infrastructure code managementKey ResponsibilitiesBuild, secure, maintain baseline physical, vm, cloud instancesMonitor HW env to ensure rapid fixes and minimal downtimeWork with multiple development teams for security and configuration updatesAssist with planning and implementation of new infrastructure tools/servicesA candidate must be a US Citizen and requires an active/current TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.Equal Opportunity Employer / Individuals with Disabilities / Protected Veterans
