Sr Consultant

Senior Consultant - Des Moines, IAJoin AE2S as a Senior Consultant in our Water practice and help grow and shape our presence in Des Moines, Iowa.This role is well suited for a client‑focused professional who enjoys building trusted relationships with public agencies while helping expand AE2S’s presence in a growing regional market. As a Senior Consultant, you will play a key role in business development and local project delivery, overseeing project management efforts, developing proposals and presentations, and delivering high‑quality technical reports. You’ll also support municipal clients through financial and quantitative data analysis, including developing Excel‑based models to inform project decisions—all while collaborating with a well‑established, employee‑owned firm committed to long‑term client and community success.ResponsibilitiesCommunicate and build strong relationships with public clients in support of project development and deliveryFurther company business development and marketing activities in the regionOversee local project management and deliveryDraft and deliver technical reports, proposals, and presentationsCollect and perform quantitative data analysis of municipal financial informationDevelop and prepare MS Excel based computer models in support of project analysesBasic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree (engineering, finance, public affairs, or other related field)Proven problem-solving skills based on quantitative data analysis8+ years of project management experienceAbility to work independently on specific assignments5+ years of experience with data analysis and large data setsStrong written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to multi-task and manage multiple initiativesWilling to travel as requiredAll applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulationsPreferred QualificationsMaster’s Degree (engineering, finance, public affairs, or other related field)Experience working in a consulting or public government environmentHistory working with team members across broad geographiesPhysical RequirementPrimary functions require physical ability and sufficient mobility to work in an office setting Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight Operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement Fine coordination including the use of a computer keyboard May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town Elevate Your Career with AE2S – Award-Winning Culture and Unmatched BenefitsAdvanced Engineering and Environmental Services (AE2S) is an award-winning, specialized civil/environmental engineering consulting firm that provides professional services and a unique brand of extreme client service.
