About the Role
As an Embedded Software Engineer, located at our Santa Fe, Texas facility, you will play a key role in the design, development, and validation of firmware across both New Product Development (NPD) and sustaining programs. You will own firmware execution end-to-end, contributing directly to products that protect lives in critical industrial environments.
You’ll collaborate closely with hardware engineers, product owners, and cross-functional partners, while working in an environment that values engineering rigor, clear documentation, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
Translate high-level product concepts into robust, maintainable firmware architectures
Capture and document requirements and rationale for regulated safety-critical products
Collaborate with hardware engineers on hardware/firmware integration and diagnostic strategies
Partner with Product Owners and stakeholders to maintain alignment throughout the development lifecycle
Champion development processes, lead technical reviews, and deliver high-quality, standards-compliant code
Ensure firmware is well-documented, thoroughly tested, and version-controlled
Perform unit testing using debuggers, emulators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers
Develop work breakdowns and task estimates to support project planning
Support multiple development programs simultaneously
Identify risks early and implement firmware-level mitigation strategies
What You Bring
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or a related field
Proficiency in C
Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
2+ years of experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
Proficiency in C++
Experience in regulated industries (industrial safety, medical, automotive, etc.)
Knowledge of embedded system design and asynchronous programming
Experience with ARM Cortex-M architectures
Hands-on use of debugging tools (JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
Familiarity with communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI)
Experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Git)
Experience delivering firmware across the full product lifecycle
Exposure to FMEAs and risk mitigation in firmware
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
