Specifically, the employee is involved with sample collection, testing, monitoring and reporting functions to appropriate entities.Job DescriptionKey AccountabilitiesPerform and interpret chemical analysis of substances to determine their chemical propertiesAssist in developing, evaluating, maintaining, and executing new and established procedures or requirements and standard operating proceduresCollect, prepare, and analyze samples to determine appropriate analysis and methodologyMaintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate lab instrumentation Verify, interpret and/or approve data and prepare reports Comply with applicable regulatory permits, standard policies, codes, regulations, etc. Assist in the development and implementation of lab safety guidelinesMonitor and control water treatment chemicalsPerform assigned duties with minimal supervisionOperate and assist in the repair of water treatment equipment: reverse osmosis systems, demineralizers, boiler chemical feed system, water/steam sample system, etc. Analyze samples, document and report the results and follow QA/QC procedures. Maintain proper chemical inventory for water treatmentResponsible for meeting all environmental permit requirements. This includes all record keeping requirements associated with permitsCompletion of end of the year reports that address chemical and water usageAssist in the training of OperatorsEducation, Experience, & Skill RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED Equivalent required7 Years related chemical/environmental experience Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills Proficiency in water chemistry operations preferred. Computer software applications Knowledge preferred (Maximo, PI, PHD, Stack Vision, Fleet Vision, Microsoft, etc.)AC/DC electronics, and electrical troubleshooting knowledgeAbility to effectively communicate and interact with others both internally and externally. Detail oriented and excellent documentation skills. Knowledge of environmental regulations and chemical guidelines as they pertain coal fired power plant . LEVEL OF POSITION WILL BE DETERMINED BY APPLICABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCEKey MetricsDemonstrates the ability to stay abreast of all activities occurring in the department while handling their own responsibilities at a highly competent level. Demonstrates the ability to oversee, plan and schedule departmental work. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring through team building, character development planning and training for newer technicians. Serves as expert source for chemical and environmental information for other departments at the facility. Proficient at implementation of new compliance plans and best management practices as needed. Department source of technical troubleshooting expertise and training for other technicians with lesser experience.
