Position Title: Assistant PrincipalContact Length:Reports to: SuperintendentI. Professional LeadershipA. Will strive to build positive relationships with the school and community.B. Participates in committee structure to develop educational strategies for the school.C. Will be punctual and regular in attendance.D. Will follow school board policy and administrative procedures.E. Will adhere to the state professional Code of Ethics.F. Will maintain confidentiality when dealing with students and records.G. Will use technology appropriately.II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:A. Interacts with students to encourage each individual to perform at their highest levelB. Assist with the management of all building staff personnelC. Assist with the completion of performance evaluation on all staffD. Provides general supervision to students.E. Supervises extra curricular activities.F. Assist with the Evaluation of all programsG. Provides in-service training to teachers and staff as needed.H. Other duties that may be assigned.III. Performance Responsibilities:Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school's CSIPEnsures that the school's strategic improvement plan supports the goals, objectives, and strategies of the district's CSIPEnsures that the Kentucky Program of Studies and Core Content for Assessment are the foundation of instruction in all content areasWorks with teachers in the development of daily, weekly, and unit lesson plansWorks with teachers in assessing problem areas in curriculum and instruction and in finding and implementing appropriate solutionsIntroduces teachers to new methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through research, have proven to increase student achievementCoordinates and conducts staff developmentModels best instructional practices through actual classroom demonstrationsUses technology to disaggregate test data to inform and grade curricular and instructional program improvement on a school, class, and individual student levelAssists teachers in incorporating the use of technology into the instructional programIV. Qualification Requirements:A. Persons in this position must meet current certification requirements determined by the Kentucky Department of EducationB. Must complete required professional development and leadership training.
