Job Description: Seasonal HousekeeperLocationAdak Island, Alaska Company: The Adak Island Inn (Aleut Ventures) Term: Seasonal (typically May - September) Role Overview:As a Seasonal Housekeeper, you are the backbone of the guest experience at the "Birthplace of the Winds." Because the Inn consists of townhouse-style units spread throughout the Sandy Cove neighborhood, this is not a traditional hallway-based hotel role. You will work independently in a remote, rugged setting to ensure every guest feels at home in the middle of the Bering Sea. Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesUnit Turnover: Perform full cleans of townhouse units between guest stays, including stripping/making beds, sanitizing bathrooms, and deep-cleaning kitchens. Availability Note: This role requires mandatory attendance on peak operational days (Wednesday and Saturday) to coordinate with flight/delivery schedules. Linen ManagementOperate on-site laundry facilities to wash, dry, fold, and restock linens and towels or utilize laundry unit with additional machines and stock. Supply Inventory: Monitor and restock guest amenities (coffee, toiletries) and cleaning supplies, reporting shortages to the Hotel Manager. Detailed CleaningDust furniture, clean windows (inside/out), vacuum all carpets, and mop hard floors to maintain high standards despite the island's windy/dusty conditions. Maintenance Reporting: Identify and report any functional issues-such as heating, plumbing, or structural damage-to the maintenance team immediately. Waste ManagementCollect and properly dispose of trash and recycling from units to prevent attracting local wildlife. Maintenance Duties: Depending on weather and workload, some lawn maintenance, minimal construction, and guest service may be required. Other Duties as Assigned Requirements & QualificationsPhysical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs frequently, and walk between units in various weather conditions (rain, high winds). Remote MindsetComfortable living and working in a highly isolated community with limited cell service and expensive local amenities. Independence: Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and manage a daily "roster" of tasks efficiently. Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with guests, researchers, and birdwatchers from around the world. Clearance: Ability to pass a drug screen and a background check. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSOne (1) year of related experience, developing knowledge of processes and procedures. Familiarity with tools and techniques. Must possess and maintain a current Alaska driver's license.
