CFO - Chief Financial Officer
DescriptionOur client is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership for a nonprofit organization in the Chattanooga, TN area. This long-term contract opportunity is well-suited for a hands-on finance executive who can lead day-to-day financial operations while guiding long-term financial strategy, reporting improvements, and organizational planning.Key Responsibilities+ Lead the organization's overall financial strategy, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning aligned with mission-driven objectives+ Oversee cash flow, liquidity, and capital utilization to support ongoing financial stability and sustainability+ Direct the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements for leadership and board reporting+ Enhance financial reporting processes to provide meaningful insights into performance, trends, and risk areas+ Evaluate and oversee accounting systems and financial infrastructure, including supporting potential ERP/system transitions (e.g., Microsoft Great Plains)+ Partner with executive leadership to assess financial implications of strategic initiatives, funding decisions, and operational priorities+ Strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and compliance procedures in alignment with nonprofit best practices+ Collaborate cross-functionally to improve financial transparency, planning discipline, and organizational efficiencyRequirements+ Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role, such as CFO or equivalent executive-level position+ Strong expertise in cash flow management, capital planning, and organizational financial strategy+ Demonstrated success leading month-end close and delivering accurate, timely financial reporting+ Experience overseeing accounting systems and financial platforms, including familiarity with Microsoft Great Plains or similar ERP solutions+ Deep understanding of budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and financial performance analysis+ Ability to clearly communicate complex financial concepts to executive leadership, boards, and non-financial stakeholders+ Experience within a nonprofit organization, or strong familiarity with nonprofit financial operations and reporting requirementsPreferred Qualifications+ CPA or advanced finance/accounting credential+ Experience supporting system implementations or financial system upgrades+ Background working closely with boards or finance committees+ Exposure to grant funding, donor reporting, or restricted funds managementRobert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
