Our ensembles consistently earn Gold ratings at organizational and jazz contests, and a large number of our students participate in ISSMA Solo and Ensemble events each year.We are looking for an educator who will continue our tradition of musical excellence while fostering students' personal and musical growth.Position PurposeThe Middle School Band Director is responsible for instruction and supervision of school students in the field of instrumental music and creating a safe and orderly learning environment. The Band Director motivates students to develop an interest in and an appreciation for the art of music. The Band Director develops knowledge, skills, and talents of students in the field of music, utilizing a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to students' interests and abilities.Essential FunctionsDemonstrate motivation and enthusiasm with a genuine passion for teaching young learnersCo-teach three ability-based 7th/8th grade concert bands with two other directorsTeach three beginning band classes organized by instrument familyCo-Teach extracurricular Jazz Band and Pep BandAssist with hosting music events, including ISSMA and IBA eventsTeaches courses in instrumental music utilizing the course of study adopted by the District and other appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course contentPlans, rehearses, and directs students in musical programs for the school and communityOrganizes storage areas and controls the use of materials and equipment to prevent loss, abuse, injury, or security breachProvides maximum participation for all students; differentiates as needed to ensure all students experience successDevelops lesson plans to teach a balanced instrumental music program involving factual background material, material on current events, discussion time and other appropriate activities designed to encourage students to develop skills and attitudes, draw conclusions, and achieve improved interpersonal relationshipsDevelops engaging and effective lesson plans and supplementary materialsProvides ongoing formative feedback to studentsDemonstrates a growth mindset individually and supports this development with all studentsCommunicates in developmentally appropriate ways through a humane, sensitive approach that clearly communicates that every child, regardless of ability, can succeedProvides support for school-wide assembliesActively supports and builds a strong positive culture and learning environmentWorks cooperatively and collaboratively with team members, parents, community members, and partners to improve the instructional program and student successEffectively uses technology to support instruction and student learningSupervises students in and out of the classroomModels non discriminatory practices in all activitiesMaintains appropriate licenses and training hours as requiredComplies with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulationsAdheres to all Indiana Administrative Rules related to licensed educatorsQualificationsB.A/B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field teachingIndiana certification in teaching in appropriate subject area (Instrumental Music)Preferred candidate will have multiple endorsements on their secondary licensePreferred candidate should have secondary level teaching experienceAbility to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with othersAbility to communicate effectively orally and in writingPerform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school programKnowledge and implementation of relevant technologyMeet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and stateAAP/EEO/DIVERSITY STATEMENTClark-Pleasant Community School Corporation believes in equal employment opportunity for all without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability, or veteran status.The policy extends to recruiting and hiring, working conditions, training programs, promotions, and all other terms, conditions, and privileges of employment.As an equal opportunity employer, CPCSC actively supports and seeks to implement all federal and state legislation and rules pertaining to the employment process.
