Associate - Trial & Litigation

A well-established California law firm with multiple offices statewide is seeking a litigation associate with 3-7 years of experience to join its Trial & Litigation Practice Group. The firm is known for handling high-profile, complex matters for public entities and private sector clients, particularly in areas involving constitutional law, civil rights, land use, and large-scale infrastructure and development projects.This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated litigation with significant public impact, including matters involving wildfire and disaster-related claims, First Amendment issues, takings, class actions, and eminent domain. Attorneys in this group are actively involved in all phases of litigation in both state and federal courts, from initial pleadings through trial and appeal, in a collaborative and team-oriented environment.RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage and support complex litigation matters in state and federal courtsDraft and argue motions, including dispositive motionsConduct and manage discovery, including electronic discoveryDevelop litigation strategy in collaboration with partners and clientsHandle case development from pleadings through trial and appealWork closely with public entity clients on litigation strategy and risk assessmentQUALIFICATIONS:J.D. from an accredited law schoolActive membership in the California State Bar3-7 years of litigation experienceRequired experience representing public entity clients, including familiarity with:Government claims proceduresConstitutional and statutory defensesLitigation involving cities, counties, and special districtsStrong law and motion practice experience in state and federal courtsDemonstrated ability to manage complex litigation matters independently and collaborativelyBENEFITS:Hybrid work schedule with work-from-home flexibility and designated in-office collaboration daysReasonable billable hours requirementAnnual discretionary and billable-hours bonusesCompetitive health insurance benefits401(k) with partial match and profit-sharing
