Appointment Type12-Month Annual ContractPosition SummaryThe Assistant Football Coach supports the Head Football Coach in the organization, administration, and development of the football program. This position assists in maintaining a competitive NCAA Division III program while supporting the academic success, personal development, and overall welfare of student-athletes.The Assistant Coach works collaboratively with athletic department staff, campus partners, and external stakeholders while ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional policies.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesCoaching and Program OperationsAssist with planning and conducting practices, meetings, and game preparationCoach and develop a designated position group as assignedAssist with opponent scouting, film analysis, and game planningImplement and reinforce program standards, terminology, and technique instructionSupport team travel logistics, practice organization, and equipment managementMaintain working knowledge of NCAA Division III, conference, and institutional rulesRecruiting and Student-Athlete DevelopmentIdentify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who fit the institution and program cultureMaintain regular communication with prospective student-athletes, families, and high school coachesCollaborate with admissions and athletics staff to support the recruiting processMonitor student-athlete academic progress and eligibility in coordination with academic support staffPromote a positive environment focused on personal development, leadership, and accountabilityProgram AdministrationAssist with daily administrative functions of the football programSupport facility scheduling, team operations, and internal communicationAssist with budget oversight and responsible use of program resourcesSupervise student workers, interns, or volunteer staff as assignedAssist with game management responsibilities as directedExternal EngagementBuild positive relationships with alumni, supporters, and members of the campus communityRepresent the football program at community, recruiting, and university eventsSupport alumni engagement and fundraising initiatives consistent with NCAA guidelinesProfessional DevelopmentMaintain current knowledge of coaching strategies and best practicesParticipate in professional development opportunities including clinics and coaching associationsContribute to departmental initiatives and service opportunities when appropriateProfessional CommitmentThis position requires evening and weekend hours including practices, competitions, recruiting activities, and team events. Travel is required for recruiting and team competition.QualificationsRequiredBachelor’s degree from an accredited institutionOne year of professional experienceDemonstrated ability to work effectively with college student-athletes and university personnelKnowledge of NCAA Division III rules and commitment to complianceAbility to assist with recruiting and student-athlete development initiativesPreferredMaster’s degreeCollegiate coaching and/or playing experienceExperience supporting recruiting operations and program administrationSalary & BenefitsIn compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is AFT: Range 18 (Step 1: $55,142 to Step 4: $63,410), with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.For internal applicants, salary is determined per the Pay Adjustment formula (NJAC 4A:3-4.9 & 4.10)For eligible employees, benefits include: comprehensive NJ State health, dental and retirement benefits, extensive accrued time off/paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents to attend Rowan University, Glassboro.
