Job Title: Operations Manager
Summary: As an Operations Manager, daily duties will include leading, organizing, planning, and directing operations for projects and multiple crews working within the vegetation management & tree trimming industry. Duties will be performed within the client’s Right-of-Way (ROW) and critical infrastructure. This position is responsible for project management and personnel management.

Responsibilities and Requirements:
Organize, schedule, and lead multiple crews to complete projects and tasks safely and efficiently
Manage work flow and crew production schedules to ensure time, quality and budget expectations are met.
Provide continuous training to subordinates evaluate performance and provide feedback
Must maintain certification and qualifications to work within the minimum approach distance of energized electrical lines
Draft, compile, and complete documents, spreadsheet, or forms in digital and physical formats
Must be able to think critically, problem solve and make independent decisions
Perform risk and hazard assessment, apply risk mitigation procedures or techniques
Perform conflict resolution among supervised individuals, vendors, and customers
Train, instruct and lead multiple crews in proper utility tree work and vegetation management methods
Safely operate tree trimming related equipment – saws, lifts, chippers, trucks, etc.
Communicate with crews, management, vendors, and customers
Manage personnel and projects which are geographically dispersed
Maintain knowledge of the industry best practices and safety requirements
Work well within a team to complete projects and tasks
Must be able to work outdoors, year-round in varying environments
Must be able to work in, around and amongst poisonous plants and noxious vegetation
Communicate program policies, procedures, rules, SOPs and coach, monitor and control to ensure they are observed.
Identify, Initiate and Document preventative and corrective disciplinary actions for supervised individuals, foreman and crew members
Communicate with Senior Management and Human Resources

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Utility line clearance and Right-of-Way (ROW) vegetation management operations
Valid Driver License
Preferred Qualifications/Education:
Commercial Driver License: Class A or B
ISA Certified Arborist or ISA Certified Utility Arborist (ISA) or Certified Tree Safety Professional (CTSP)
Qualified Applicator License (QAL)
Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC)
TRAQ Certification
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of tree trimming, climbing, and tree removal
Knowledge of tree trimming techniques and application to utility Right-Of-Way projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lead crews: layout daily plans, direct crews, manage jobs, manage schedules
Ability to operate equipment and vehicles related to vegetation management activities
Ability to utilize issued technology to complete work tasks
Ability to utilize Mac/IOS devices
Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, ArcGIS, Collector/Field Maps
Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI and other applicable safety requirements related to tree trimming
Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI and other applicable safety requirements related to equipment operations
Ability to problems solve
Ability to motivate self and others
Ability to think critically
Ability to resolve conflicts
Ability to regularly lift 50lbs or more
Probationary Period:
90-day probation period if previously a member or IBEW 1245
180-day probation period if not a previous member of IBEW 1245
Travel:
This position is expected to travel to project sites and locations within California (Operating Area)
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Sites can be very hot and dusty.
