Operational Accounting Manager

Carolina PRG has partnered with a locally based headquarters that is in an Elite Industry to help them grow out their corporate accounting team. This Industry Leader is seeking an Accounting Manager to serve as a senior technical reviewer, problem solver, and collaborative partner within the finance team. This role is designed for an experienced accountant who has worked across multiple environments and can apply that experience to improve accuracy, speed, and processes.Key ResponsibilitiesReview internal monthly and quarterly financial statements, including footnotes, prior to Controller reviewPerform timely P&L variance analysis and identify issues early in the close processAssist with quarterly bank reporting packages, including drafting supporting footnotesSupport the financial statement auditImprove close timelines through stronger preparation and issue resolutionReview, enhance, and help present financial analyses and slide decks for operational and executive leadershipTranslate financial results into clear, actionable business insightsSupport deep-dive analyses and short-notice requests from leadershipTrain and support staff accountants and AP/AR team membersApply prior experience to improve accounting processes, controls, and workflowsSupport automation and reporting improvements using ERP-connected toolsLead and support special projects and cross-functional initiatives requiring experienced judgment and fast turnaroundQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA requiredApproximately 6-15 years of progressive accounting experienceMid or small firm public accounting experience (manager level preferred) with hands-on industry execution, including:Month end closeFinancial statement preparationP&L variance analysisIssue identification and resolutionAdvanced Excel skills required
