Bookkeeping ManagerLocation: Irvine, CA | On-site || Department: Operations || Employment Type: Full-timeAbout the RoleThe Bookkeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the bookkeeping department. This role ensures accurate financial records, efficient workflows, compliance with accounting standards, and high-quality service delivery. It combines strong leadership, process optimization, and hands-on financial oversight (onsite and remotely) to support the organization's goals.What You'll DoManage daily bookkeeping operations, including bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Establish, document, implement, and continuously improve standardized bookkeeping processes, procedures, and best practices.Supervise, train, and mentor the bookkeeping team while setting performance expectations, conducting reviews, and managing workload and capacity to meet all deadlines.Track and analyze key performance indicators such as close timelines, error rates, and productivity metrics to drive performance and operational efficiency.Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements, automation, and system enhancements to optimize operations.Ensure full compliance with GAAP, internal controls, company policies, and all applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations.Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated bookkeeping issues, complex financial inquiries, and cross-functional collaboration with operations, HR, client-facing teams, and leadership.Oversees bookkeeping systems and tools, including accounting software and payroll platforms, while supporting implementations, upgrades, and data integrity initiatives.Coordinates with external accountants, auditors, and tax professionals while staying current on regulatory changes and evolving accounting standards.Prepare and present operational and performance reports to senior leadership and perform additional duties as assigned.QualificationsWhat You BringThe ideal candidate has demonstrated ability to oversee bookkeeping teams (remotely and onsite), manage workflows, enforce internal controls, and maintain accurate financial records.Hands-on experience with payroll processing, tax compliance, and supporting external audits.A track record of identifying process improvements and working effectively in a fast-paced environment.Adaptability with proven experience working cross-functionally and partnering with external accounts.A motivation to level up and take on challenges.Excellent time management skills.Required:Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience preferredCPA, Certified Bookkeeper (CB), or similar professional certification is a plus.Experience: 3–5+ years of progressive bookkeeping or accounting experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.Candidates should have strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, financial practices, payroll systems, and tax regulations.Proven experience managing daily bookkeeping operations, including bank reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and timely month-end close processes is required.What We OfferCompensation for this role: $105,000 - $115,000 base, PLUS performance bonus potential of $5,000 per quarter.Low-cost comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance401k with a 4% employer matchContinued educationSupplemental benefits like: Life Insurance, Pet Insurance, and many more...Why You'll Love Working HereImpact - Every day, you'll help real people escape financial stress and rebuild their lives.Growth - We're a rapidly expanding company with plenty of room for career advancement.Supportive Culture - We value collaboration and continuous learning.High Client Satisfaction - With thousands of 5-star reviews, our clients consistently praise our expertise and results.We're looking for passionate, driven individuals who want to make a real difference while building a rewarding career in a purpose-driven organization.Pay Transparency Statement - The expected compensation range for this position is $125,000 – $135,000 per year. This represents a good-faith estimate of the compensation range that Tax Relief Advocates reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of hire. Final compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary based on factors including (but not limited to) experience, skills, education, location, internal equity, and market conditions.
