VP of Development
The VP of Development will lead the strategy, relationships, and systems that fuel Citygate Network’s next season of growth and mission impact. Partnering closely with the CEO and key stakeholders, this leader will build and execute a fundraising strategy centered on major donor relationships, foundation partnerships, and the key systems needed to support long-term growth. Uses written, verbal, donor, board, and day-to-day leadership communication to strengthen alignment, build trust, and reinforce team health.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild and lead Citygate’s development strategy: create a clear roadmap for major donor growth, foundation partnerships and future fundraising expansion aligned to the strategic planCultivate and steward transformational donor and foundation relationships: lead high-level conversations, strategic asks, and long-term partnershipsTranslate Citygate’s movement-wide impact: help supporters understand the ripple effect of strengthening 330+ ministries rather than one single missionBuild the systems and infrastructure behind fundraising growth: CRM discipline, portfolio management, donor workflows, reporting, and decision-makingPartner closely with the CEO and senior leaders: unlock strategic relationships, maximize key donor touchpoints, and expand Citygate’s funding networkBring executive leadership influence to a highly collaborative team: contribute to strategic decisions, cross-functional alignment, and the continued healthIdentify and shape new pathways for revenue growth: bring an entrepreneurial lens to future channels, partnerships, events, and network-based opportunitiesKey QualificationsDemonstrated success securing major donor and foundation gifts.Experience building or leading a comprehensive fundraising strategy, ideally spanning major gifts, foundations and emerging revenue channels.Proven ability to build systems and infrastructure for sustained donor growth.Strong fluency in faith-based nonprofit fundraising, ideally within a rescue mission, ministry-serving, network, or association context.Executive leadership experience with the ability to partner cross-functionally, influence key stakeholders, and contribute to strategic decision-making.Exceptional relational intelligence, communication strength, and the ability to build trust quickly and toggle audiences authentically.A collaborative, servant-hearted leadership style marked by humility, initiative, and the ability to thrive in a high-support, high-challenge culture.
