With strong backing and rapid user base growth, Pocket FM is an exciting and dynamic place to join.The Role: What You'll Build and OwnWe are looking for a passionate and driven Research Scientist Intern to innovate in long-form content generation and localization.In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to seamless, culturally-tailored storytelling experiences and work on evaluating content quality through user engagement and quality metrics. You will gain hands-on experience working with large-scale language applications and help refine how language models interact with external data sources, such as knowledge graphs. Additionally, you will assist with fine-tuning techniques, such as Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), to improve our production models for cultural and linguistic accuracy. You’ll be collaborating with our Machine Translation (MT) and Large Language Model (LLM) teams to help enhance Pocket FM's global reach, enabling millions of listeners worldwide to enjoy stories in their native language.Throughout your internship, you’ll be mentored by senior research scientists and collaborate closely with engineers on R&D experiments that drive real-world impact for the company. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a fast-paced, cutting-edge AI environment.How does my day look like?Assist in implementing algorithms, running experiments, and designing evaluations to improve content creation, adaptation, and translation across multiple languagesSupport the implementation and optimization of finetuning pipelines using techniques like RLHF and LoRA for training large-scale language modelsContribute to the development of scalable distributed information retrieval systems (search engines, knowledge graphs, indexing, ranking, and query understanding)Ensure the quality and consistency of AI-generated content through rigorous testing and evaluationSupport the team in publishing research findings in top-tier AI conferences and journalsYour technical toolkit:Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. degree in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or relevant technical fieldStrong proficiency in Python and familiarity with research methodologiesExperience in frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlowDemonstrated experience in deep learning, especially language modeling with transformers and machine translationFamiliarity with methods of training and fine-tuning language models, including reinforcement learning, policy optimization, and supervised fine-tuningExperience building and iterating on knowledge extraction and graph-based representation of informationPreference for fast-paced, collaborative projects with concrete goals, quantitatively tested through A/B experimentsJoin us as an intern and gain valuable experience contributing to groundbreaking research in Generative AI technologies at Pocket FM!
