Spectrum Software Technology (SST) is currently seeking a Sr System Engineer for our civil aviation programs, working in support of our Traffic Flow team. The position requires a BS and 10+ years of experience. Candidates with 15+ years of experience may apply without a degree.
The position is located at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)'s William J. Hughes Technical Center adjacent to the Atlantic City International Airport, New Jersey. The role requires 3 days onsite / 2 remote.
Responsibilities
Designs and evaluates end-to-end systems through their entire life cycle
Conducts comprehensive technology research to evaluate potential vulnerabilities in cyberspace systems
Heading and implementing Oracle Linux Virtual Manager to replace VMWare
Building KVM hosts and oracle linux virtual manager host
Implementing Stig patches on the environment to comply with the FAA standards
Architecting and installing new products to replace old antiquated software
Conducts risk assessment and provides recommendations for application design
Installing and configuring Oracle Goldengate into environments
Integrate new architectural features into existing infrastructures, designs cybersecurity architectural artifacts, provides architectural analysis and relates existing system to future needs and trends, embeds advanced forensic tools and techniques for attack reconstruction, provides engineering recommendations and resolves integration/testing issues
Coordinates system development to include design, modeling, security, integration, and formal testing
Contributes to completion of specific engineering programs and projects
Develops solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems
Perform complex systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end
Oversees complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools
Performs complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis
Performs continual maintenance and provides complex solutions for security, backup, and redundancy problems
Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects
Assist senior engineers and field service engineering staff
Create and maintain system architecture and troubleshooting documentation
Monitor, analyze, & report information on system performance; identify inefficiencies, issues, and bottlenecks
Prepare plans and assessments, such as management engineering plans, integrated support plans, meeting presentations and implementation plans
Develop integrated system requirements and proposed design solutions
Research and documents analysis in technical reports and presents findings and recommendations to meet program requirements
Anticipate and addresses problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms
Qualifications
Advanced Linux experience
Experience utilizing systems engineering and work management tools such as Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Interpersonal skills to interact with team members and customers
Ability to travel when needed
Dependable
Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident
