Special Education Teacher

Special Education TeacherJoan Fenichel Therapeutic Nursery is seeking teachers to work in our preschool program.Responsibilities for certified Special Ed teacher include but are not limited to:Assess developmental functioning and learning skills of students based on IEP goals utilizing appropriate assessment toolsWrite annual goals, behavioral objectives and intervention strategies corresponding with assessment in consultation with other disciplinesEvaluate student progress on an on-going basisPrepare weekly lesson plans according to a planned sequence with IEP goals and plan/share with teacher assistantsInstruct and supervise teacher assistants and substitute teacher assistants in appropriate techniques to work effectively with childrenParticipates in program planning and interdisciplinary team meetingsEducation:Bachelor's degree required.Must have NYS Student with Disabilities teaching certification (Birth-Grades 2)Skills and/or Experience Required:Prior experience working with school age children (preferably special needs population or a similar combination of work and experience)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong attention to detail and highly organized.Benefits:Dental insuranceEmployee assistance programFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offProfessional development assistanceReferral programRetirement planTuition reimbursementVision insurance**THIS POSITION RECEIVES A SIGN ON BONUS OF $3000 DISTRIBUTED WITHIN THE 1st YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT**EEO/AA/M/F/Vets/DisabledThe League Education and Treatment Center is a 501c3 non-profit agency dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with psychiatric and developmental disabilities.
