The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryColumbia University Irving Medical Center's Department of Medicine is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join the outpatient practice at NYP/Columbia University within the Division of Rheumatology & Clinical Immunology. This role primarily focuses on the diagnosis and management of arthritis and other rheumatologic conditions, under the guidance and supervision of the Center Director. The APP will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, fellow APPs, registered nurses, and administrative staff to deliver comprehensive, high-quality care to patients.ResponsibilitiesProvide patient care both independently and in collaboration with the clinical teamConduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations (comprehensive and targeted)Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests; manage acute and chronic conditionsTriage and address clinical inquiries and concerns from patientsPrescribe medications and document all patient interactions in the EMRReview external medical records and collaborate with physicians to revise treatment plans as neededEducate patients and caregivers on disease processes and outpatient care strategiesOffer guidance on treatment protocols and medication regimensPlace orders and provide clinical oversight for patients receiving IV therapies in the infusion centerSupport clinical research efforts by coordinating and implementing trials involving human subjectsScreen and enroll patients in clinical trials in accordance with study protocolsIndependently perform study-related procedures and maintain accurate case report documentationSupervise, train, and manage research staff and student volunteersPerform other related duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsFor NPsMaster's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus one to two years of experienceCurrent New York State NP (or proof of application) and RN licensesAcute Care Board certificationEligible for DEA licenseBLS certificationFor PAs:Bachelor's degree in physician assistant studies or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of experienceMaster's degree can substitute in part for experienceCurrent New York State PA license (or proof of application)NCCPA certificationEligible for DEA licenseBLS certificationOther RequirementsMedical clearance and participation in Medical Surveillance program requiredSuccessful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirementsEqual Opportunity Employer / Disability / VeteranColumbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.
