We believe golf is more than a sport, it’s a place where relationships grow, traditions thrive, and everyone is part of the community.Job PurposeThe Maintenance Irrigator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the golf course irrigation system to ensure optimal turf health and water efficiency. This role supports overall course conditions by managing irrigation schedules, troubleshooting system issues, and maintaining pumps, valves, and related infrastructure. Working under limited supervision, the Maintenance Irrigator partners with the Superintendent and leadership team to proactively address irrigation needs and support course operations.ResponsibilitiesOperate, monitor, and adjust irrigation systems to maintain optimal turf and landscape conditionsInspect, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation components including pipes, valves, sprinkler heads, controllers, and pumpsProgram and manage irrigation schedules based on weather conditions, soil moisture, and course needsPerform preventive maintenance on irrigation systems and related equipmentDiagnose electrical and mechanical issues within irrigation control systemsAssist in installation and upgrades of irrigation infrastructureMaintain pump stations, filtration systems, and water distribution equipmentConduct regular system audits to identify leaks, inefficiencies, or coverage issuesMaintain accurate records of repairs, water usage, and system performanceCoordinate with maintenance team to support overall course operations and special eventsEnsure compliance with water usage regulations and environmental guidelinesMaintain inventory of irrigation parts and supplies; assist with ordering as neededTrain and support team members on proper irrigation practices and equipment useMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work environmentSupport additional maintenance functions as needed, including equipment or facility supportImplement and support all company initiatives and safety programsPerform other duties as assigned by managementQualificationsMinimum 2 years of experience in irrigation systems, turf management, landscaping, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience operating and maintaining irrigation systems, preferably in golf course or landscape environmentsKnowledge of irrigation components, electrical systems, and water management principlesAbility to read irrigation plans, manuals, and technical specificationsBasic proficiency in Microsoft Word and ExcelStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate effectively with team members; bilingual (Spanish) skills may be beneficial in some locationsKnowledge of health and safety regulationsWorking ConditionsSchedule varies based on business needs; early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays may be requiredWork is primarily performed outdoors in varying weather conditionsExposure to mechanical equipment, water systems, chemicals, and electrical componentsPhysical requirements include standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and operating equipmentMay be exposed to noise, moving parts, and environmental elementsReasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functionsAmerican Golf Corporation is committed to equal employment opportunities for all.
