Transport Driver

Position Summary The Client Transport Driver is responsible for safely transporting clients to and from scheduled appointments, programs, and community locations. The driver ensures a professional, supportive, and respectful environment that promotes client safety, dignity, and comfort. This position plays a vital role in supporting client access to essential services. Key Responsibilities Provide safe and timely transportation services for clients to scheduled destinations (medical appointments, therapy sessions, school, work programs, residential facilities, etc.). Assist clients entering and exiting the vehicle when needed, ensuring comfort and safety at all times. Inspect and maintain company transport vehicles daily, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns. Follow all state and local traffic laws and organizational policies related to client transportation. Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage records, fuel usage, and client pick-up/drop-off documentation. Communicate professionally with clients, families, caregivers, and staff. Adhere to confidentiality policies and protect clients’ personal information (HIPAA compliance when applicable). Implement proper safety procedures, including use of seat belts, wheelchair tie-downs, and child safety equipment. Respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents following company protocols. Demonstrate patience, respect, and sensitivity to clients with disabilities, behavioral health needs, or diverse backgrounds. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Prior transportation, caregiving, or customer service experience preferred. Ability to operate and secure wheelchairs and other mobility devices (training provided). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when assisting clients, if necessary. Training in First Aid/CPR and defensive driving preferred (or willingness to obtain). Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening (if required by the organization).
