Position Overview
WCMS is seeking a senior Occupational Health Registered Nurse to serve as the Lead / Charge Nurse during overnight weekend shifts at a large manufacturing facility in Lafayette, Indiana.
You will be the primary on-site medical authority during your shift, responsible for clinic operations, emergency response, and coordination with site leadership and WCMS clinical support. This is a solo-coverage role requiring strong judgment, confidence, and experience.
In addition to the core weekend schedule, this role may have the opportunity to pick up weekday shifts to support staffing coverage, bringing the total weekly hours to approximately 24–32 hours, based on availability and operational needs.
Schedule
Saturday: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Sunday: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Core hours: 24 hours per week (every weekend)
Optional: Additional weekday coverage as available
Part-time, permanent role
Key Responsibilities Clinical Care & Emergency Response
Assess and manage workplace injuries and illnesses
Perform medical triage and fitness-for-duty evaluations
Respond independently to on-site medical emergencies
Support Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities
Occupational Health Services
Conduct DOT drug testing and fit-for-duty screenings
Perform OSHA-mandated surveillance exams
Support return-to-work decisions and injury documentation
Clinic Leadership & Administration
Serve as Lead / Charge Nurse during overnight shifts
Maintain clinic readiness, supplies, and documentation
Coordinate with WCMS leadership and off-site providers
Deliver health-related orientation content as needed
Compliance & Program Support
Support OSHA, ADA, and EH&S compliance initiatives
Assist with determining work-relatedness of injuries
Participate in safety reviews and continuous improvement efforts
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum 5 years of nursing experience
(occupational health, ER, ICU, urgent care, or acute care preferred)
Proven ability to work independently and autonomously
Strong clinical judgment and emergency response skills
Excellent communication and documentation abilities
Ability to commit to every Saturday and Sunday night
Preferred Qualifications
Prior occupational or industrial health experience
Experience serving as a lead or charge nurse
Familiarity with OSHA, ADA, and workplace safety programs
Experience with EMR systems (e.g., Cority)
Certifications such as COHN, COHN-S, BLS, ACLS
Compensation & Benefits
Base pay: $48.00–$55.00 per hour (based on experience)
Night/weekend premium: +$10.00 per hour
