Director of Nursing – Surgical Services (OR)Location: Westwood, NJWork Model: Onsite (Day Shift)Position Type: Full-TimeThe Director of Nursing – Surgical Services is responsible for providing 24/7 clinical, operational, and financial leadership across the perioperative platform, including OR, PACU, same-day surgery, sterile processing, endoscopy, and pre-op clinic. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on driving surgical growth, optimizing OR utilization, improving patient outcomes, and building high-performing teams in a fast-evolving hospital environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide 24/7 leadership oversight for surgical services departmentsLead and optimize OR throughput, block utilization, and case volume growthOversee perioperative services including:Operating Room (OR)PACUSame Day SurgerySterile ProcessingEndoscopyPre-op clinicDrive quality patient care and clinical excellence aligned with standardsManage staffing, scheduling, and workforce optimization (reduce travel staff dependency)Lead performance improvement initiatives and KPI-driven operationsCollaborate with physicians to improve scheduling, access, and operational efficiencyStandardize processes such as preference cards and workflow optimizationOversee budget, financial performance, and cost controlEnsure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standardsMentor and develop leadership teams and frontline staffSupport hospital growth strategy through expanded surgical capacity and servicesMust-Have RequirementsBSN (required) (or active enrollment with completion within 24 months)Active RN License – New Jersey2–5+ years of nursing leadership experience (acute care / surgical services)Strong experience in perioperative / OR leadershipExperience managing clinical operations, staffing, and budgetsBLS certification (within 14 days of hire)Required SkillsStrong expertise in perioperative services (OR, PACU, surgical workflows)Experience driving OR efficiency, throughput, and utilization metricsKnowledge of CMS, Joint Commission, and regulatory standardsLeadership in staff development, engagement, and performance managementStrong physician relationship managementBudgeting, financial management, and operational planningExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
