About LatchBioAt LatchBio, we're building agents that help thousands of scientists analyze and interpret data from the next generation of spatial and multi-omic tools in biotech. Our agents can store terabytes of data, visualize millions of cells, and orchestrate hundreds of computers towards bio-computational ends. Teams at pharmaceutical, biotech, and solution provider companies rely on our technology to enhance, inform, and deliver the future generations of biological products. We introduced SpatialBench, the first benchmark suite for spatial biology agents — 146 verifiable problems drawn from real industry and academic analysis workflows across five spatial platforms. Our findings show that harness design — the tools, prompts, and control flow around a model — moves outcomes as much as swapping the base model itself. We have subsequently released scBench, and are working on benchmarks and benchmarking infrastructure for 5+ more important areas of biology. Our persistence is leading to market validation. In the past year (April 25 to April 26), we have grown our revenue over 6x. More importantly for our long term growth, we have a repeatable sales process and have more demand than we can meet. We are rapidly scaling our team across many areas, including engineering. Here is a sample of engineering products we work onAgent harness integrated with bio first tooling such as an in-house h5ad and genomics viewerDistributed file-system with metadata on Postgres and blobs on S3Cluster orchestrator designed to accept compute nodes from anywhere on the internetReactive Python-based notebooks for data analysis and visualizationBenchmarking harness with automated QC processes to validate and probe model failure casesAbout The RoleYou will be working on problems in software, including but not limited to web development, systems programming, database administration, cloud infrastructure, agent harness engineering, model benchmarking, and benchmark construction.Engineers are given enormous responsibility and creative freedom over the design and implementation of systems. The tools and features we ship immediately impact the daily workflows of hundreds of scientists. We think the below are good indicators of fitInterest in computer systems and their inner workings e.g. compilers, operating systems, databases, distributed systems, programming language theoryDesire to do "the right thing" in all situations—write good code, make people happy, ship just-right: not too soon, not too lateAbility to see and pursue art and craft in software engineeringHow We WorkWe care about output and let people optimize their work in a way that works for them. Our engineering team is in-person in San Francisco. We run a daily standup where engineers talk through technical challenges and stay aligned on what matters most. You will own a product area and execute, working closely with seasoned Latch engineers, product managers, and designers. Mentorship happens through code review and working through hard problems together. Our charter and continued mission is to accelerate biological science so that humanity can benefit from better bioengineering, whether that be medical technology, farming, or environmental conservation. If you are motivated to work on these problems surrounded by like-minded people, LatchBio may be a great fit for you.Who You'll Work WithEngineering: Aidan, Ryan, Max, Anirudh, Joel, TimProduct: Hannah, NathanFounders & Chief of Staff: Alfredo, Kyle, Kenny, JordanHiring processOur process is typically completed within two weeks.Round 1: Introduction — Saúl (Technical Recruiter)Round 2: Resume Deep Dive — Aidan (Founding Engineer)Round 3: Technical — Latch EngineerRound 4: Final/ 3-Day Paid Onsite ProjectOfferCompensation & Benefits$170k–$250k/yrEquityUnlimited PTO (truly)Waterfront office in China Basin, San FranciscoFree lunch and dinner100% premium covered on Blue Shield's platinum health plan ($0 premium, $0 deductible)401(k) plan optionsWork visa sponsorshipCompany-sponsored professional developmentLearn MoreAgent.bio — The AI agent for biologyBenchmarks.bio — The benchmarks for biology agentsConsole.latch.bio — The harness for agentic data analysis
