Design Engineer
Job Summary: The Design Engineer's role is to design, specify and engineer fully integrated audio, visual and lighting systems. Reports To: Engineering ManagerDuties and Responsibilities:§ Conform to industry technical standards, and advance Starlite’s internal best practices. § Interface with all stakeholders in order to grasp the project scope, the client’s requirements and any potential complications that may arise.§ Visit the project site to conduct surveys as needed and document the site conditions. § Create job cost estimates and continue to review and approve systems criteria.§ Provide technical responses to RFPs and RFIs.§ Interpret technical specifications, schematics, architectural diagrams and provide structural and MEP coordination including conduit and electrical requirements as needed. § Review pre-construction design and documentation and provide assistance with technical design, take-offs, and budget pricing for proposals as needed. § Interface with clients, architects, consultants and Starlite staff throughout the design development and delivery process.§ Provide conceptual designs for audio, visual and lighting systems.§ Develop a statement of work for each job based on system design and customer requirements. Responsible for job documentation as needed. § Continually conduct equipment research on new and emerging technology. § Work collaboratively and efficiently and provide support to the entire team.§ Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and records.§ Identify all cabling and miscellaneous materials required for the project.§ Assist Account Managers with the development of system proposals and labor estimates.§ Communicate effectively with internal staff, client representatives, cooperative trades and subcontractors.§ Effectively coordinate and manage multiple system design projects.§ Be responsible for successfully completing assignments on time and within budget.§ Establish and maintain an effective line of communication with the client acting as a liaison in support of the Account Manager.§ Provide engineering support during the installation phase.§ Provide feedback in “Lessons Learned” meeting at the conclusion of Project.§ Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required. Education and Experience:§ Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent technical subject-related work experience.§ AVIXA CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I, ESTA ETCP-CRT, ETCP-CRA, and/or ETCP-CEE certifications are highly desirable.§ Manufacturer certifications such as Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron, Netgear, Harman, Cisco, etc. are a plus.§ Strong working knowledge of signal flow and control systems.§ Proficiency in the use of diagrammatic software tools, particularly AutoCAD, BlueBeam and Visio.§ Willingness to pursue additional training related to the role.§ Ability to think and work independently, meeting deadlines as necessary.§ Proficiency with test and calibration equipment.§ Ability to test integrated systems and train clients on use; develop and write customer operation manuals as needed.§ Coordinate CAD drawings and documentation as needed.§ Provide field service support if requested.§ Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have no adverse driving history.
