Consumer Lending Operations Manager

About the Position:The Consumer Lending Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the credit union’s consumer lending operations, including loan production, underwriting, processing, funding, portfolio performance, and member experience. This role provides leadership and strategic direction to the consumer lending team while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and supporting the continued growth of the loan portfolio. Product oversight includes Auto Loans, Credit Cards, Personal Loans, and Small Business Lending.Essential Responsibilities:Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop the consumer lending team to achieve performance goals and deliver exceptional member serviceEstablish clear expectations, KPIs, and productivity standardsFoster a collaborative, growth-oriented culture focused on operational excellence and member satisfactionPortfolio & Risk ManagementOversee the performance and profitability of all consumer lending productsMonitor delinquency trends, charge-offs, and portfolio risk metricsManage loan quality control processes and audit functionsDevelop and maintain lending policies and procedures to support compliance and operational efficiencyOperational OversightOversee day-to-day consumer lending workflows and operationsEnsure timely underwriting, loan closing, and funding processesOptimize the use of LOS systems, decision engines, and lending technologiesDevelop and implement new lending programs, products, and process improvementsManage third-party vendor relationships, including contract review, negotiation, implementation, and ongoing oversightCompliance & Regulatory OversightEnsure compliance with all NCUA, federal, and state lending regulationsMaintain strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to consumer lending oversightStay current on regulatory changes and oversee implementation of updates to ensure safety and soundnessBusiness Strategy & GrowthSupport the credit union’s strategic lending objectives and growth initiativesAnalyze market trends and member needs to identify opportunities for program enhancementsBuild strong relationships with members and participate in community engagement activitiesPartner with marketing teams on lending campaigns and product development initiativesQualificationsBachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experienceMinimum of 10 years of consumer lending experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership roleCredit union or financial institution experience strongly preferredKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong understanding of consumer lending products, operations, and regulatory requirementsExperience with LOS platforms, lending technologies, and operational process improvement initiativesProven leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skillsStrong executive-level presentation and reporting capabilitiesAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and WordExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAdditional Compliance ResponsibilitiesEmployees are expected to support the credit union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies, and related regulatory requirements.
