The Part-Time Greenhouse Coordinator is responsible for theday-to-day management of a horticulture and greenhouse programwithin a nonprofit setting.
This role combinesplant care, greenhouse operations, and program coordination , helping create a structured environment where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities can buildvocational, life, and social skills .
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience ingardening, agriculture, or greenhouse managementwho is interested inmission-driven work and community impact .
ClassificationContracted, Grant-Funded - 1 Year Contract (can be extended based on funding)
Reports to: Assistant Director of Day Services (Woodbridge)SchedulePart-Time - 16 Hours | Daytime hours
Schedule may vary based on seasonal greenhouse needs and program activities
Requirements:
Must be21 years of age or older
Valid drivers license with agood driving record
Experience inhorticulture, gardening, agriculture, or greenhouse operations
Ability to performphysical tasksincluding lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
Ability to work independently and manage daily greenhouse responsibilities
Preferred:Certificate or coursework inhorticulture, environmental science, agriculture, or related field
Knowledge ofsustainable, organic, or environmentally responsible growing practices
Experience working in anonprofit, vocational program, or grant-funded environment
Experience supporting individuals withintellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)or similar populations
Key ResponsibilitiesGreenhouse OperationsPlan and manage daily greenhouse activities includingplanting, watering, pruning, and harvesting
Monitorplant health, soil conditions, pest control, and environmental factorssuch as temperature and humidity
Maintain inventory ofplants, seeds, tools, and supplies
Ensure the greenhouse remainsclean, organized, and safe
Program CoordinationSupport vocational and therapeutic programming within the greenhouse environment
Assist withplant production for sales, farmers markets, or community distribution(as applicable)
Track program participation and maintainbasic records for grant reporting
Collaboration & Team SupportWork collaboratively withday program staff and leadership
Communicate program progress, challenges, and updates
Assist withcommunity engagement activities , including volunteer events and workshops
Safety & ComplianceFollow allsafety procedures, accessibility standards, and program guidelines
Maintain awareness ofbest practices in horticulture and disability services
Report any incidents, maintenance needs, or safety concerns promptly
