Do you enjoy working with older adults in an environment where patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help and contribute positively is a top priority?If this sounds like you keep reading!Davis County Health Department, Senior Services Division is currently hiring for a part-time Driver II in Davis County, Utah This position operates a multi-passenger bus or van transporting older adult county citizens to and from their home or other residence to various senior centers, activities, grocery shopping and medical appointments. Other duties include assisting the senior centers with activities and operations on a daily basis.Pay range and benefits$16.31 - $25.20/hr, salary based on qualifications and experience.Weekly Schedule: 29 Hours* Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Flexible end time based on daily appointments)* Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM (approx. 4 hours)RequirementsHigh school graduation (or equivalent).Preference for experience driving a multi-passenger vehicle or bus transporting passengers.Preference for experience working with older adults, supporting their independence and well-being with demonstrable skills in patience, empathy and handling challenging situations with dignity.Must be at least 21 years old.Must pass a criminal history background investigation.Must possess a valid Utah Class A, B or C. Must obtain a class C with passenger endorsement within 1 year.Must possess or obtain immediately upon hiring, a valid DOT medical card.Must have a clean driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations within the last three (3) years.Our Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is one who enjoys providing services to and interacting with older adults. The ideal candidate is compassionate and patient and is skilled at fostering a positive work culture and one who thrives in a dynamic and changing environment.Day to Day DutiesDrives a multi-passenger vehicle during normal and inclement weather conditions.Supports and assists passengers, including passengers with mental and physical disabilities, in a safe manner with getting into and out of the vehicle as needed.Lifts and carries bags and other personal items for passengers. Folds, lifts and loads/unloads wheelchairs, walkers, and other passenger devices into and out of the vehicle.Ensures passengers are securely seat belted, wheelchairs are locked and all items are stored safely before the vehicle is in motion.Completes daily pre-trip inspections on assigned vehicles.Cleans and fuels vans and/or buses. Oversees the preventative/general maintenance and other repairs on assigned vehicles; notifies supervisor of damage, needed repairs or servicing.Assists with senior center activities and operations as needed, including: meal set-up and room set-up, sets up tables, chairs, and any necessary equipment needed for events and assists with clean up and take down, keeps the center clean and clear of debris, materials, and garbage and properly stores equipment and supplies.Click here for the full Job DescriptionApply now and fill out our mobile-friendly online application.
