This is a fully remote position which may require some travel.Duties include providing technical evaluation of vendors proposed system designs and providing assessments on the design maturity and expected performance of systems to meet operational requirements. Periodically the candidate will be required to write technical papers on the technical risk of systems meeting USCG/ABS design standards. Past performance should demonstrate personal experience designing or using onboard piping systems (hydraulics, ships auxiliaries, HVAC, fuel distribution, water production, etc). Additional duties may include cost estimation of proposed ship construction changes and site visits to perform root cause analysis of shipboard failures. Salary range is based on years of experience.Salary Range: $55,000-$125,000General Description Of BenefitsRequired SkillsBS degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass and obtain a Public Trust clearance. Four (4) to twelve (12) years’ experience in the shipbuilding industry in the mechanical engineering discipline.Ability to perform requirements analysis; concept design and development; feasibility studies; and systems integration.Knowledge of industry construction standards for mechanical systems.Ability to review/modify drawings and have good technical writing skills.Thorough understanding of ABS, USCG and other regulatory agencies rules as it pertains to shipboard systems.Ability to work remotely/independently with minimal supervision.Desired SkillsProfessional Engineering license in the field of Marine, Mechanical, or other engineering disciplines.Experience with scientific research ships.Experience with ShipConstructor, Pipe Flow, Rhino, Navisworks, SolidWorks and other ship design software.Cost estimating skills.Ship based HVAC design/installation experience.Some design/technical specification development and construction/repair oversight experience. #EverforthECS1ECS Federal LLC is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate or allow discrimination on the basis any characteristic protected by law.
