Reports To/Team Dynamic: Network Engineering Lead / Network Services TeamRate: Competitive based on experienceAbout the RoleThe Junior Network Engineer supports the Network Services team by assisting with the design, implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of enterprise network environments. This is an entry-level role designed for recent college graduates or early-career professionals who are eager to build a strong foundation in networking technologies while gaining hands-on experience in a production environment.In this role, you will work closely with experienced Network Engineers and cross-functional IT teams to support network stability, performance, and security. You'll gain exposure to routing and switching protocols, automation and scripting, and emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning applied to network operations and optimization.What You'll DoAssist with configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls under the guidance of senior engineersSupport implementation and maintenance of network protocols such as TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, and IS-ISHelp document network configurations, procedures, and topology diagramsUtilize Python scripting to assist with network automation, data collection, and operational efficiency initiativesMonitor network performance and assist in identifying, escalating, and resolving connectivity or performance issuesCollaborate with infrastructure, systems, and security teams to support integrated IT solutionsAssist with testing, deployment, and validation of network changes in lab and production environmentsFollow and support network security standards, change management processes, and operational best practicesWhat You Bring0–2 years of experience in networking, IT infrastructure, or related roles (internships and co-ops welcome)Hands-on experience with or strong interest in Python scripting for automation and network operationsExposure to AI or machine learning concepts and interest in how they apply to networking or IT operationsBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related disciplineFoundational knowledge of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, and IS-ISCCNA certification required; additional Cisco or Juniper certifications a plusStrong analytical skills, attention to detail, and desire to learn complex systemsExcellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environmentWhy Join Us?Relationship-Driven Process to Find Your Best FitRegular Check-ins to Support Your Growth and EngagementAbout UsAt Brooksource, relationships are the foundation of everything we do.
