Job SummaryThe Laser CNC Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing CNC laser welding, cutting, marking, and drilling systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role supports production by minimizing downtime, maintaining laser performance, and executing preventive maintenance on laser sources, motion systems, and supporting equipment.Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance & RepairPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC laser systems (fiber and CO?), including laser sources, beam delivery, optics, motion systems, and controlsDiagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and optical issuesAlign optics and beam paths; inspect and replace lenses, nozzles, and protective windowsMaintain chiller systems, cooling loops, and gas delivery systemsTroubleshoot alarms, faults, and performance degradationSupport laser welding, cutting, marking, and drilling systems as applicableControls & DiagnosticsTroubleshoot CNC controllers, servo drives, encoders, sensors, and safety circuitsRead and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and technical manualsInterface with OEM software for diagnostics, calibration, and parameter adjustmentsPreventive MaintenanceExecute scheduled PMs per OEM and internal proceduresMaintain accurate maintenance logs and equipment historyIdentify wear trends and recommend proactive repairs or upgradesSafety & ComplianceFollow laser safety protocols (Class 1-4 as applicable)Maintain interlocks, guarding, and safety systemsSupport compliance with OSHA, ANSI, ISO, ITAR and internal safety standardsContinuous Improvement & SupportCollaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teamsAssist with equipment installations, relocations, and upgradesTrain operators on basic machine care and troubleshootingSupport root cause analysis for recurring equipment failuresRequired Qualifications3+ years of experience maintaining CNC laser equipment or similar industrial machineryStrong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skillsExperience with fiber and CO? lasers both digital and analog preferredAbility to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawingsComfortable working with high-voltage equipment and laser safety standardsFamiliarity with chillers, vacuum systems, assist gas systems, and motion controlProficient with hand tools, precision measuring tools, and diagnostic equipmentPreferred QualificationsOEM training or certification (Trumpf, Bystronic, Amada, Mazak, Coherent, IPG, etc.)PLC troubleshooting experience (Fanuc, Coherent, IPG)Experience with laser welding systems and galvo scannersUnderstanding of optics, beam quality, and laser process parametersPhysical & Work RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsAbility to stand, bend, and work in confined spacesWillingness to work off-shift, weekends, or on-call as neededCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly wage or salary based on experienceOvertime and on-call pay (if applicable)Medical, dental, vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and holidaysTraining and certification opportunitiesMinimum requirements:Ability to read and comprehend drawings and work instructionsUnderstanding of laser components; wave lengths; optics; assist gasesUnderstanding of manufacturing computer applicationsTime Management skills, must be able to multitaskAbility to lift 50 lbs.Basic computer skills (Microsoft 365 Suite)
