Locum Pediatric Acute Care Physician Assistant Location: Dallas, TX Employment Type: Locum Tenens Schedule: Three 13-hour day shifts per week (7:00 AM - 8:00 PM) Pay Rate: $145-$150/hour About the Opportunity A leading academic medical center in Dallas is seeking an experienced Pediatric Acute Care Physician Assistant for a locum tenens assignment within its Acute Cardiac Care Unit (ACCU). This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly specialized pediatric cardiac team caring for complex, high-acuity patients in a collaborative academic setting. The ACCU is a 44-bed inpatient unit dedicated to pediatric cardiac care, functioning as a step-down unit for patients transitioning from the ICU while maintaining a higher acuity than a traditional inpatient floor. Providers work alongside cardiology attendings, fellows, residents, and fellow APPs in a team-based care model. Position Highlights Competitive compensation at $145-$150/hour. Three 13-hour day shifts per week. Work in a nationally recognized pediatric cardiac program. Collaborative multidisciplinary environment with strong physician and APP support. Clinical Responsibilities Provide comprehensive inpatient management for high-acuity pediatric cardiac patients. Perform daily assessments, treatment planning, and documentation. Write daily progress notes and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams. Manage pre- and post-operative congenital and acquired cardiac patients. Participate in care for heart failure and heart transplant patients. Collaborate with cardiologists, fellows, residents, nursing staff, and ancillary teams. Patient Population The ACCU cares for medically complex pediatric cardiac patients, including those with: Congenital and acquired cardiac conditions. Pre- and post-operative cardiac surgical needs. Advanced heart failure and heart transplant management. Stable ventricular assist devices (VADs). Tracheostomy and ventilator dependence. Inotropic infusions, including Milrinone and Dopamine. Chest tubes, including management and removal. External pacing wires (AAI mode). Stable peritoneal dialysis. Requirements Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Board Certified. Pediatric Acute Care experience required. Active Texas license required. Facility Highlights Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. Academic tertiary care environment.
