Job Overview Under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor, the Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy machinery in support of daily production and site operations. This role is essential to maintaining efficient, compliant, and safe workflows, with a focus on composting processes, material handling, and general site maintenance. Additional Perks: Company-paid life and disability insurance, employee assistance program, and more Supportive Leadership: Leadership that values safety, professionalism and growth Essential Job Functions Operate heavy equipment to support day-to-day production activities Operate construction and site equipment, including but not limited to excavators, front-end loaders, yard trucks, and other heavy machinery. Conduct required pre-operation and post-operation equipment inspections to ensure safe and reliable performance. Monitor equipment operation and promptly report mechanical issues, malfunctions, or safety concerns. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with company safety policies and procedures. Support plant operations through special projects and other assigned duties as needed. Adhere to all safety, environmental, and operational policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. What You Need: High School Diploma or GED required; vocational training or apprenticeship strongly preferred. Experience operating heavy equipment in industrial, construction, or processing environments preferred. Proficiency in operating heavy machinery, including excavators, front-end loaders, yard trucks, and similar equipment. Knowledge of composting operations, material handling, or organic waste processing a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude, including hands-on experience with pumps, valves, hydraulics, and basic mechanical systems. Ability to inspect, monitor, and troubleshoot equipment to identify mechanical, operational, or safety issues. Working knowledge of equipment safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and industrial safety practices. Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures, work instructions, and safety documentation. Effective verbal communication skills for reporting issues and coordinating with supervisors and team members. Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working independently or collaboratively in a team-based environment. Desired Certifications: Valid Driver’s License – required. Demonstrated competency in heavy equipment operation; vocational training or equipment certifications preferred.
