In this role, you will lead end-to-end software development initiatives—including requirements analysis, data modeling, database design, and hands-on PL/SQL engineering—for critical national geographic data systems.Primary ResponsibilitiesSystems Architecture & Design: Lead technical analysis, relational data modeling, and functional design across all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).Core Engineering: Design, develop, test, debug, and optimize complex interactive and batch database applications using Oracle PL/SQL and SQL.Requirements Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional project teams, end users, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to translate business needs into technical specifications.Testing & Quality Assurance: Author detailed test cases and execute unit, integration, and functional testing to maintain high software performance and data integrity.System Integration: Evaluate, integrate, and modernize software packages, APIs, and tools to support client objectives and system interoperability.Maintenance & Optimization: Troubleshoot software defects, resolve complex system performance bottlenecks, and implement continuous enhancement requests.RequirementsRequired Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent10+ years of software development engineering experience5+ years of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL programming experienceDemonstrated expertise in relational database design, data modeling, and batch processingStrong analytical problem-solving abilities, excellent verbal/written communication, and a collaborative team mindsetAbility to obtain and maintain the necessary federal background check/suitability clearance for federal agency contract supportDesired Skills & QualificationsHands-on exposure to Java-centric enterprise application development, ORM frameworks (Hibernate, Spring), or Web ServicesFamiliarity with Python and Linux shell scripting (bash)Experience delivering software within Agile/Scrum environments using CI/CD tools like GitLabBasic exposure to HTML5, jQuery, or RESTful API integrationsAdditional InformationClearance: In order to meet the clearance requirements for this opportunity, candidates must be US Citizen.
