Job Description
Job SummaryWe are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and credentialed Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning, emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs. The ideal candidate will create and implement individualized education programs (IEPs), foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment, and collaborate closely with students, families, administrators, and support staff to help students achieve academic, behavioral, and personal success. Extensive support from credentialed teachers and administrative staff will be provided to ensure student and teacher success.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)Provide specialized instruction tailored to students' unique learning needsMaintain compliance with federal, state, and district special education laws and regulationsCollaborate with general education teachers, administrators, therapists, paraprofessionals, and parents/guardiansAssess student progress and maintain accurate documentation, reports, and student recordsModify curriculum, assignments, and teaching methods to support student achievementSupport students' behavioral, emotional, social, and academic developmentAttend IEP meetings, staff meetings, parent conferences, and professional development trainingsMaintain a safe, structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environmentUtilize classroom technology, assistive technology, and instructional tools effectivelyImplement behavior intervention strategies and classroom management techniques as neededWork collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support student successQualificationsBachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field requiredMaster's degree in Special Education preferredValid State Special Education Teaching Credential requiredMild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe credential preferredCurrent state teaching certification/licensure requiredKnowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance requirementsStrong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and familiesCPR/First Aid certification preferredPreferred Skills & ExperienceExperience working with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), behavioral challenges, emotional disturbances, or learning disabilitiesFamiliarity with differentiated instruction and assistive technologyStrong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skillsAbility to build positive relationships with students, families, and staffAbility to adapt instructional methods to meet diverse student needsCommitment to creating an inclusive and student-centered learning environmentAdditional SupportExtensive support provided by credentialed teachers, special education staff, and school administrationOngoing professional development and collaboration opportunities available
