Technical Writer / Process EngineerLocation: Atlanta, GAEmployment Type: ContractSchedule: OnsiteOverviewBrooksource is seeking a Technical Writer / Process Engineer to support the development, standardization, and continuous improvement of quality control processes within a large-scale data center environment. This is not a traditional technical writing role. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of data center operations, quality assurance methodologies, and process engineering principles, enabling them to design effective operational processes before documenting them.This individual will work directly with data center operations teams, quality control personnel, and technical subject matter experts to define inspection criteria, create scalable workflows, and develop audit-ready documentation that supports operational excellence. Success in this role requires the ability to understand how high-performing data center QC programs function and translate that knowledge into repeatable, measurable processes.ResponsibilitiesDesign and document quality control and operational workflows supporting critical data center infrastructure and operations.Develop process maps, swim lanes, decision trees, inspection workflows, and exception-handling procedures.Define QC inspection criteria, acceptance standards, and operational checkpoints for data center processes.Author and maintain SOPs, MOPs, quality standards, work instructions, and operational documentation.Partner with data center operations teams and technical SMEs to capture undocumented processes and institutional knowledge.Lead process discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews to identify process gaps and improvement opportunities.Support Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) initiatives by documenting findings, corrective actions, and preventive measures.Establish and maintain document control standards, including version management, review cycles, approval workflows, and access governance.Ensure all documentation is audit-ready and aligned with operational, quality, and compliance requirements.Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, consistency, and operational efficiency within the data center environment.Required Qualifications5+ years of experience supporting data center operations, mission-critical facilities, industrial operations, commissioning, or infrastructure environments.Experience authoring SOPs, MOPs, QC procedures, and operational documentation within a data center or similarly complex operational environment.Strong process mapping experience, including swim lanes, decision gates, exception handling, and workflow design.Demonstrated ability to interview technical SMEs and transform complex operational knowledge into structured documentation.Familiarity with NCR and RCA methodologies, including 5-Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams, corrective action plans, and continuous improvement frameworks.Experience defining quality inspection criteria, operational standards, and process controls.Strong understanding of document control practices, including version management, review cycles, approval workflows, and governance.Excellent technical writing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting data center commissioning, construction, facilities operations, or critical infrastructure programs.Knowledge of data center quality control processes, inspection programs, and operational readiness activities.Experience working in highly regulated, audit-driven, or mission-critical environments.Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certifications.Experience with process mapping and documentation management platforms.Key Success FactorsUnderstands how quality control programs operate within a data center environment.Able to design effective operational processes before documenting them.Strong ability to bridge the gap between technical SMEs and operational stakeholders.Detail-oriented with a focus on audit readiness and documentation quality.Process-driven mindset focused on standardization, accountability, and continuous improvement.
