Interventional Radiology Tech

Overview Job Summary Under supervision, performs a variety of complex radiology examinations, imaging procedures/treatment, interventional diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the interventional radiology, cardiac cath lab, or electrophysiology lab areas according to radiology practice standards. Also assists in the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease. Performs other duties as assigned. Provides-on call and callback coverage as required. Job Responsibilities -Performs basic to complex quality radiologic procedures using appropriate technical and safety method as requested by a licensed physician in Interventional Radiology, Neuro Interventional Lab, Cardiac Cath Lab, and Electrophysiology lab. -Sets up sterile table, assembles necessary instruments, catheters, guidewires, and contrast materials according to procedure requirements. -Assists Radiologist/Neurologist/Cardiologist with catheters, guidewires, balloons, coils, and treatments. -Develops appropriate procedure/treatment plan and implements procedure/treatment plan utilizing established hospital protocols/guidelines. -Completes documentation as required to comply with policies and procedures. -Maintains equipment, procedure/treatment rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of patients and staff. -Participates in departmental Performance Improvement activities to ensure that patient care is consistent with established standards. -Completes assigned goals. -Other duties as assigned Experience Required: Experience as obtained through the completion of a Radiology Technology Program. Preferred: Minimum of 1 year as a radiology technologist. 6 months experience in IR/Cath lab/EP. Education Minimum Required Completion of a formal education program in radiography accredited by a mechanism acceptable to ARRT. Training Description Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Special Skills Description Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Radiologic principals/theory. Utilizes the most appropriate technique and positioning for optimal procedures/treatments as demonstrated by procedure/treatment results. Demonstrates ability to receive and follow written and oral instructions; ability to plan and organize work Licensure Description Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with Registry in Radiography ARRT (R). ;BLS Certification within 14 days of hire; New graduate will obtain required registry within 120 days as required;. State license as required Registry in Vascular Interventional ARRT(VI)
