Boiler Technician Apprentice

This is a structured, multi-year development role designed to build a highly skilled technician pipeline and prepare the apprentice for a full-time technician position upon completion all while earning competitive wages during participating in the program. At the end of the program the successful candidate will acquire his/her Journeyman Card for the respective program.Key ResponsibilitiesHands-On Technical TrainingSupport piping layout, fabrication, and installation for boiler systemsLearn to install, thread, bend, and secure piping and tubing systemsAssist in mounting boiler components such as valves, gauges, burners, and accessoriesParticipate in re-tubing, insulation repair, and general boiler maintenanceControls & Electrical ExposureAssist in wiring motors, controls, and auxiliary equipment for boilersSupport building and testing control panels and fuel skidsLearn to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagramsAssist with troubleshooting electrical and control systemsObserve and support combustion setup and system start-up activitiesMechatronics & System LearningDevelop foundational skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control systemsAssist in testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining integrated systemsLearn to use diagnostic tools and measurement equipmentSupport system assembly, commissioning, and operational checksProgram & Development ActivitiesParticipate in structured ICATT classroom training and courseworkRotate through departments to gain exposure to shop and field operationsMaintain training logs, documentation, and required program materialsFollow all company safety policies and ICATT program requirementsActivities and job duties may change at the discretion of employerLearning Progression (ICATT Model)Year 1: Foundational skills, safety, and core mechanical/electrical basicsYear 2: Application of skills, increased hands-on responsibilityYear 3: Independent work, troubleshooting, and readiness for technician roleBasic QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredInterest in mechanical, electrical, or technical tradesBasic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)Ability to read basic technical drawings (preferred but not required)Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skillsPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsAbility to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and industrial environmentsFrequent standing, walking, bending, and climbingWorking ConditionsCombination of shop and field environmentsExposure to industrial equipment, noise, and varying temperaturesRequired use of personal protective equipment (PPE)Program BenefitsPaid on-the-job trainingAssociate Degree in Applied Science upon completionU.S. Department of Labor Journeyman credentialIndustry-recognized certificationsDirect pathway to full-time technician role
