Special education and contentendorsements will be required. Candidates pursing appropriateendorsements will be considered.Qualifications Bachelors Degree KSDE Approved Licensure Job related experience within a specialized field is required Physical Demands, Working Environment This position generally requires the following physical demands:occasional lifting and carrying up to seventy-five (75) pounds, somepushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/orcrawling and significant fine finger dexterityResponsibilities Administers a variety of evaluative tools (e.g. developmentaltesting programs, subject specific assessments, etc.) to assess student competency levels and develop individual learningplans Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, andgoals to provide feedback to students, teachers, parents, andadministration Collaborates with parents, instructional staff, other schoolpersonnel (e.g. OT, PT, Social Worker, Vocational Needs Coordinator,etc.) supporting the improvement of student outcomes and achievingstudent educational plan objectives Coordinates schedules (e.g. teacher, student, paraeducators, relatedservices, etc.) and provides services in a timely manner Counsels students, parents, and legal guardians to communicateregarding expectations, student\'s achievements, developing methodsfor improvement, and reinforcing classroom goals Differentiates classroom work (e.g. instructional methods,materials, content, etc.) to provide students with instruction in alignment withindividualized learning plans Facilitates student learning for the purpose of achieving success inacademics, social skill awareness, and problem solving Implements behavior intervention plan to provide an effectiveprogram addressing individual student requirements Maintains documents, files, and records (e.g. assessments, IEPs,point sheets, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities andproviding reliable information Manages student behavior (e.g. encouragement and corrective systems,supervision and monitoring routines, instructional interventions,etc.) to provide a safe and optimal learning environment Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g IEPs, general education intervention meetings, pre-assessment teams,etc.) for the purpose of conveying and gathering informationRequired To Perform Job Functions Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance,anecdotal records, progress reports, lesson plans, etc.) to document student progress, meet mandated requirements, andcommunicate information to other parties Develops individual education plan goals and other written materialsfor student IEPs to establish strategies/opportunities for studentsuccess Provides outlets and avenues for students experiencing social/emotional/ behavioral responses (e.g. safe areas, deescalatingrooms, etc.) to reduce stress and encourage positive expressions Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspectedsubstance abuse, bullying, etc.) for the purpose of maintainingpersonal safety of students, providing a positive learningenvironment, and adhering to the education code of ethics and schoolpolicies as a mandated reporter Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. otherteachers, parents, administrators, etc.) to resolve issues, provide information, and direction Supports classroom te chers with the implementation of establishedcurriculum and individual student plans Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficientand effective functioning of the work unit Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 80% walking, and 10%standing This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment
