Position Type:Special Education/SpEd Inclusion TeacherDate Posted:3/6/2026Location:Dumas Junior High School Primary Purpose:Serve as special education case manager to develop and oversee the implementation of a students' IEPs; Collect and analyze multiple sources of data to provide input on student progress regarding the general curriculum; Monitor each student on the caseload for adherence to attendance and disciplinary policies. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district policies or procedures; Provide Specially-Designed Instruction, using research-based methodologies, to assist with student progress on IEP's.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree from accredited universityValid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignmentsSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and IndividualKnowledge of developing the Individual Education Plan (IEP) including the goal setting process and implementationKnowledge of disability categories, and ability to develop Specially-Designed Instruction to address individualized needsExpertise in differentiated instructional strategies, to include academic and behavioral strategiesKnowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to analyze data in order to recommend instructional practices Ability to manage personnel, when necessarySuperior organizational, time management, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skillsSuperior problem-solving skillsExperience:Experience with students with disabilities is preferred.Major Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional StrategiesWork with the ARD committee and other support staff in developing the.Implement and monitor with fidelity the adopted IEP or intervention programs and curricula.Develop and implement data collection systems to monitor student IEP goal progress.Be a positive role model for students and staff to promote healthy and respectful behavior and social interactions in education.Comply with all Special Education Case Manager responsibilities, Special Education Department procedures, and campus/District procedures.Attend all required meetings, i.e. ARD meetings, special education department meetings, staffings, faculty meetings, PLC's, etc..Prepare lessons and lesson plans as required. Classroom Management and OrganizationCreate classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for the global development of students using the principles of PBIS and evidence-based educational techniques.Manage student behavior and implement behavior intervention plans. This includes intervening in crisis situations and physically restraining students as needed to maintain safe and healthy learning environments.Consult with general education classroom teachers regarding student academic performance and student behavior according to the IEP.Consult district and outside resource personnel regarding education, social, emotional, and personal needs of students.CommunicationUse effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula and assignments as needed.Collaborate with campus and other support staff to develop interventions and supports for students and their instructional teams.Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, teachers, and related service providers.Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.Collaborate with the general education teacher(s) to ensure that special education students are receiving the services outlined in their IEP's, and that students are making progress in the general education curriculum.
