Circle Ten James Ray Summer Camp General Staff

Camp James Ray summer camp programs serve elementary aged youth, their leaders, and their parents for overnight camps. Staff week begins June 1 and camp closes on June 27.Description: A Circle Ten Council camp staff member is a member of a team that is responsible for creating and guiding a program that provides opportunities for young people to have new experiences that teach new skills, improve self-esteem and confidence, and help them to discover new adventures.All Camp James Ray staff should enjoy working with elementary aged youth and be able to lead groups of youth and their adult leaders through fun and engaging activities.Opportunities will include: Activity Specialist, Life Guard (pool and waterfront), Dining Hall, Trading Post, Group GuideActivity Specialists will provide leadership to youth at their given activity station. Groups will rotate throughout the day to the station. The Activity Specialist will be responsible for developing age-appropriate activities and developing the list of required materials and supplies. Staff are responsible for ensuring that activities meet budgetary limitations. Activity Specialists focus on safety first, with camper engagement and experience as the primary goal.The ideal candidate for Activity Specialist will have excellent skills in working with young people and teaching new skills. They must be able to work with adult leaders to create a supportive encouraging environment for youth to learn and have new experiences.Group Guides will spend the day leading approximately 25 youth and their leaders. They will guide the group through the day to activity areas, provide support in campsites to leaders and youth, and serve as the customer service advocate for campers. Group Guides bring the fun to camp!The ideal candidate for Group Guide will be energetic, caring, and have experience working with youth in a camp environment. They should have an ability to problem solve independently within camp guidelines and provide support to leaders as needed to ensure the best customer experience possible. Group Guides should have a general knowledge of outdoor camping skills, and an ability to support units at their campsites as needed. They should be skilled at creating group cohesion and team building.Life Guards will spend the day at the pool or waterfront as assigned, teaching curriculum as per advancement requirements with a focus on safety at all times. Staff are required to have Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR/AED certification.The ideal candidate for aquatics staff will have prior lifeguard experience with preferred canoe/kayak experience. They will have experience working with young people in aquatics activities and be a source of encouragement for youth who are unsure in the aquatic environment. Aquatics staff are required to be focused and able to monitor their assigned area without distraction. Staff should be able to enforce rules and regulations in a manner that is non-confrontational.Dining Hall Staff will be responsible for set up of the dining hall for meals, and for cleaning and resetting after each meal. Staff will assist during meal service as needed and ensure that all health and safety regulations are met.The ideal candidate for dining hall staff will have attention to detail when cleaning and setting up the dining hall. They will have a self-starting mentality, with an ability to get the job done timely and completely with minimal supervision.The Trading Post Manager will be responsible for retail sales and inventory management throughout the camping season. Staff will anticipate camper needs and assist the business manager with product ideas and creating attractive merchandising displays. The manager will be responsible for closing out sales and balancing funds daily. They will be responsible for the cleanliness of all food service equipment and of the overall appearance of the trading post. The trading post manager may make trips to town to purchase additional inventory as needed as authorized by the camp director.The Trading Post Retail Associate will be responsible for retail sales and maintaining merchandising displays and cleanliness in the trading post. They will be responsible for handling all transactions including cash and POS sales.The ideal candidate for trading post staff will have retail experience and be comfortable working with POS systems and handling cash transactions.
