Open Systems EngineerThis position primary focus will be the administration & support of Monitoring toolset (Nagios Netreo, and SCOM) application and support for Command Center monitoring team. Acts as the primary liaison between Infrastructure Technology Services (ITS) and network management tool vendors, Mass General Brigham back-office support groups, and applications teams. Provides knowledge of network management tools, designs, and plans the presentation of data to improve the efficiency of Mass General Brigham in performing daily operations and proactive monitoring of the network. The candidate may assist in troubleshooting of network-related problems and monitoring of the network.The successful candidate will be supporting the following network management and monitoring systems/protocols Stealthwatch, Netreo, Netbrain, Dartware Intermapper, Cisco Prime, ExtraHop, Splunk, IP SLA, MPLS fault monitoring, NetFlow collection, syslog collection, MIB and SNMP trap collection.The Open Systems Engineer II is responsible for the installation, administration and maintenance of all UNIX and Linux based servers. Evaluates and monitors server operations. Troubleshoots and resolves server problems. Recommends and implements machine modifications or additional equipment to increase system capacities. Analyzes the results of server monitoring and recommends changes to improve performance, processing and utilization. Proposes, maintains and enforces server policies, practices and security procedures. Implement Technology to upkeep the PHS Core Server Build i.e. service packs, HP and IBM software drivers, etc.Support all Enterprise Monitoring applications Nagios, Netreo, and System Center operations managerUnder the direction of the Command Center Manager, provides skilled technical support to in-house IS staff, user departments, and third-party liaisons.Provides consulting services at the highest technical level for remote hospital sites; works with various IS departments to ensure superior application performance and network stability.Monitors network traffic to ensure optimum uptime and performance in a proactive manner.Acts as primary liaison between other groups and ITS for network management and monitoringOccasional after hours and weekend work to perform tasks that cannot be done during business hours.Provides on-call support to troubleshoot any NMS system related issues.Work with vendors to evaluate, install and support new as well as existing network management systems and products.Manage upgrades of network management products, servers, and Operating Systems to maintain integrity of network management systems and products.Individual will mentor colleagues on NMS / SNMP design, architecture, and industry best practices.Performance monitoring, technical support and troubleshooting of servers.Technical consultation on projects.
