Operations Specialist AnticipatedJOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 03/30/2026 CLOSING DATE: 04/13/2026 04:00 PM POSTING NUMBER: 052498 LOCATION: Transportation - Oak Ridge - 912 POSITION TITLE: Operations Specialist Anticipated JOB DESCRIPTION:To work with parents, campuses and transportation personnel on day to day operations. This will include covering routes, dispatching, and responding to telephone calls.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintain excellent attendance.Drive/monitor on a school bus route as needed.Manage students on a route.Maintain confidentiality.Access automated transportation routes and reports.Assist in checking routes and running routes for various reasons such as time schedules, mileage, road conditions, new addresses, etc.Assist drivers, monitors and stand-by drivers with daily operations.Assist record keeping for mileage.Assist in radio dispatching.Assign stand-by drivers and monitors to routes.Able to work in a stressful environment.Assist Field Trip Coordinator as needed.Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE: Good verbal and written communicationsMust have positive public relationsUse a variety of computer software programsFiling various forms and documents QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:High School Diploma or GEDMust be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of ageClear Criminal History CheckMust pass randomly administered drug and alcohol tests (a refusal for drug and alcohol test will be considered an automatic positive)Acceptable Motor Vehicle RecordCommercial Driver's License with P & S endorsement (must obtain within 90 days of employment)Must complete and maintain current State Bus Certification CourseMust be able to pass an annual DOT physical (same as bus driver)Special Knowledge/SkillsAbility to communicate, with parents/guardians' campuses, fellow co-workers and other auxiliary personnel in a positive and cooperative mannerAbility to communicate professionally on radioWorking knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office Professional programsAble to efficiently and effectively maintain, organize and evaluate recordsAble to communicate and work with bus drivers/monitors on routing needsAbility to learn all CISD programs (Routing Software, GPS, View It, Zonar, etc)Must have excellent phone etiquetteMust have a positive attitude with the ability to work as a team player CONTACT INFORMATION: Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Ability to read, communicate verbally, understands verbal and written directions, and work with minimal supervision.
