Job Summary
The Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, facility systems, and support infrastructure within a 200,000 sq ft fabrication and machine shop and an additional 60,000 sq ft of office space. This role requires broad mechanical, electrical, and facilities skillsets to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The technician works independently and as part of a team to minimize downtime, support preventive maintenance programs, and respond to urgent maintenance needs across manufacturing and office environments.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Production Equipment
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fabrication and machining equipment including:
CNC machines
Presses, brakes, and shears
Weld cells and welding support equipment
Material handling systems (conveyors, cranes, forklifts support)
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
Perform precision mechanical work such as alignment, bearing replacement, and gearbox repair
Support equipment installations, upgrades, and relocations
Work from electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and OEM manuals
Electrical & Controls
Perform electrical troubleshooting up to 480V (as qualified)
Diagnose and repair:
Motors, drives, starters, and control circuits
Sensors, limit switches, and safety devices
Support basic PLC troubleshooting (inputs/outputs, fault identification)
Follow all lockout/tagout and electrical safety procedures
Facilities & Building Systems (Manufacturing & Office)
Maintain building systems including:
HVAC systems and controls
Compressed air systems
Plumbing and basic pipefitting
Lighting, doors, docks, and building envelope
Support office space maintenance including:
Minor electrical and lighting repairs
Furniture, fixtures, and interior repairs
Coordination with contractors for larger facility projects
Safety & Compliance
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
Perform lockout/tagout, hot work, and confined space procedures as required
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Actively identify and report safety hazards and near misses
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Skills
Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting ability
Working knowledge of:
Mechanical systems
Electrical systems (industrial)
Hydraulics and pneumatics
Ability to read and interpret:
Electrical schematics
Mechanical drawings
OEM documentation
Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required
Technical degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience preferred
3+ years maintenance experience in a fabrication, machine shop, or industrial manufacturing environment preferred
Facilities maintenance experience a plus
