Conduct advanced diagnostic procedures such as ultrasound, endoscopy, and manage in-house diagnostics including CT scans and digital radiography. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including emergency veterinarians, surgeons, and licensed veterinary technicians to deliver comprehensive patient care. Ensure thorough and clear communication with pet owners, explaining diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognosis with compassion and professionalism. Participate in teaching and mentoring of support staff and veterinary technicians to foster professional development. Maintain meticulous medical records and ensure compliance with hospital protocols and regulatory standards. Contribute to hospital initiatives aimed at advancing patient care, hospital efficiency, and client experience. Participate in continuing education, sharing knowledge and best practices with the team to drive continuous quality improvement.Must-Have Skills: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. Completion of a residency in internal medicine and board certification (DACVIM), or eligibility to sit for certification. Proficiency in internal medicine procedures including performing and interpreting ultrasounds. Active veterinary license in Tennessee or ability to obtain (state licensure transfer fees covered). Strong case management, critical thinking, and organizational skills for managing complex cases. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with clients and effectively collaborate with team members.Nice-to-Have Skills: Experience working in an emergency and specialty referral hospital setting. Interest in leadership, mentorship, or pursuing equity/leadership pathways within the hospital. Familiarity with advanced diagnostic equipment such as CT, endoscopy, and on-site lab systems. Experience in performing or overseeing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or advanced treatment modalities. Knowledge of best practices in infection control and management of isolation wards or specialized care units.
